Actually, the term "World" in World Series apparently comes from a newspaper that had "World" in its name that promoted the first series. I think that the series is probably seen on all continents by hundreds of millions of non-Americans. They could appease the complainers by calling it the 'World-famous Series', but then it would sound more like a barbecue joint, like "Luther's World-famous Ribs". I like the name as is. "NBA Finals" is dull and unimaginative by comparison.
