Well, Weaver gets two quick outs. It's that third out that the Marlins really come alive, as in the first inning.

I think a nice Mauve would be good. Add some class to the League...Remember that we Packers fans got great mocking joy out of the old Bucs Swishy Guy logo. Perhaps having a Florida team wearing a, well, swishy color would be too much for the state.

They should have pinch hit Enrique Wilson.LOL, Enrique is the Yankees last non-pitcher on the bench. You use him up and then you're left with a bunch of American League pitchers to pinch hit when you need them.

Wow! I'm very happy for Jeff. He can at least be proud of pitching a 1-2-3 inning in the World Series. Maybe he can build on that next year.

"My brother and I wanted to trade him to the Red Sox the other night and the son of a gun went and hit that insurance dinger."Worst thing that coulda happened -- now Torre actually believes Boone has a clue in the batters' box.
Well, now can ya believe this?? Weaver pitches a scoreless inning?? I'm gonna check outside and see if pigs are flying...
To: Catspaw
Nah... Florida is sufficiently weird enough that they'd take pride in it. I always thought New Hampshire was weird (I mean, I am a product of it - enough said) but Florida, man, that state was in a class all it's own. ;0)

You use him up and then you're left with a bunch of American League pitchers to pinch hit when you need them. Yeah, but he does no good sitting on the bench while Boone whiffs and the Marlins score the winning run. Point is, they DID need him. If not in the 11th inning with the goahead run on 3rd with less than two outs, with your worst hitter at the plate, then WHEN?

I have not followed the Yankees. What is the problem with Weaver? He's good enough to make the team and he did fine just now.

"He [Weaver] can at least be proud of pitching a 1-2-3 inning in the World Series. Maybe he can build on that next year."Yeah, preferably in Kansas City or Montreal where there is ZERO pressure.
To: overtaxd
Weaver had the worst (or second-worst) ERA of all starters in the American League. I'm pretty sure it was around 6.00. That's what's wrong with him.

And the Marlins play close to the Keys....mauve it is--with puce accents. I insist.

'What is the problem with Weaver?"Nothing 10 years at Double A, and a stint at a sanitarium wouldn't cure.
