It is an insidious and sinister development in the medical care sector of society - one that essentially prepares the sick for death rather than support the battle for life...all in the name of "comfort" and "humaneness".

I'm not going to speak about this Hospice Nursing home that Terry is in

But Hospice in general is not a bad thing for terminally ill patients

They help not only the patient but also the the family in preparing for what is to happen

Years ago my mother volunteered for a Hospice program around my way to help several dying people and their families through the process .. whether it be picking up their meds .. picking up some food .. or just sitting there to listen to them and offer a hand to hold

She did it because when my father was dying of cancer, there were no support groups or anything close to a Hospice care and she knew how hard it was and how alone people feel.

I don't know how she did it all .. but a few families were helped by her

The concept of Hospice originally was to enable terminally ill patients to live at home until death. Terminally ill patients that did not want to die in a hospital could live at home, with nursing, medical, and support personnel visiting, assisting with care and providing support until the end.
Now a Hospice appears to be a glorified rest home where persons can be legally starved to death away from the prying eyes of family and friends. What a crock!!
