Someone earlier posted a link to that incident in 1994.

I'm just worried that's there's too much conflict here among all the parties involved.

Hope the family's lawyer knows what's up with all of this.

The "hospice" specializes in murder (ok - government-funded "assisted living until death" - NOT intensive care for a person NEAR death.

This post is strictly Hospice related.

I thank God for Hospice.

My Mother-in-Law died of stomach cancer. On the day she had surgery to remove an operable tumor only to find the cancer had spread incredibly, she was given maybe a week, maybe a month to live.

She lived for 22 days.

Twenty-two days of dying from a horrible illness that we could not have made it through without Hospice. She died in peace & we were ALL at peace when she died. (Thank you again, Lord.)

One of the differences between Terri & my mother-in law is that mom asked for Hospice care, Terri didn't.

I hope that if you ever have a loved with a terminal illness who is facing death that you consider at least talking to Hospice if not using their services.

BTW, I thought Hospice couldn't accept a patient unless death was expected within 6 months and if 6 months passed, Hospice care was terminated (until the patient was facing death again). I have not read anywhere that Terri was expected to die within 6 months.

"It continues to hurt Terri and her family's cause that Felos has such easy access to mainstream media where they seem not to."

I do believe the Terri spokesperson is a 'volunteer'. That should tell you why Terri's family isn't getting any news coverage.

Today, PBS allowed a man to argue Terri's been in a coma for thirteen years - and didn't challenge it. Probably because a 'volunteer' has had control of the Terri's public image for to long a period of time.

George Felos - certifiable whack job!

I think he has some severe brain damage and is unable to think rationally. I do believe that this brain damage is not reversible! Do you know someone I can speak with regarding his right to be put out of his misery?? I am certain if he was in his right mind he would not want to go on living in this manner and state of mind!

My favorite thus far was posted on another thread where he claims that he nearly caused the crash of a commercial airliner on which he was a passenger just by imagining it crashing. Then "God" told him to be careful because he didn't know his own power. Sounds like the same kind of colorful, drug-induced "enlightenment" that embellished the psychic landscape of the 60's.

Yes, hospice can be good. My Father was in hospice-he died in less than a week. But you are right-I don't believe Terri was ever determined to be terminal. MS wished her to be terminal, and Felos had just the hospice that would accept her.

Couples live together unmarried all the time.

Yes, they are currently doing that. They've been "together" since 1995, have a 13-month old daughter, and another baby on the way.

Your BTW is one of the big problems with this whole thing. She had no terminal illness. Hospice now wants to expand their mission to what they call life-limiting diseases. Hospice ain't what it used to be.

The judge mentioned Dr. Jay Wolfson - University S. Florida as the GAL. Does anyone know anything about him?

Interesting what you find googling:

Secretary sues over scholars' fracas at USF

By JAMES HARPER
St. Petersburg Times Staff Writer

February 4, 1994

TAMPA - A secretary at the University of South Florida who says she was injured during a faculty fracas just before Christmas filed a civil suit Thursday against one of the professors involved.

Jay Wolfson, a USF professor and member of the Hillsborough County Hospital Authority, threatened secretary Yolanda Santos, grabbed her and jumped on her back - all in a struggle over Santos' personal tape recorder, the suit charges.

"This is something one would expect to read about in grade school," said Santos' attorney, Steve Yerrid. "It's ironic in a place of higher learning that the very basics we learn as children were cast aside."

"We're comfortable that Dr. Wolfson did nothing inappropriate that day," said Tracy Sheehan, one of the lawyers representing him.

Santos' story is nothing but "a fabrication" designed to fuel a bitter faculty turf war at USF, she said.

The suit claims that Wolfson's actions amounted to assault and battery, false imprisonment and negligence and asks for $300,000 in punitive damages.

State prosecutors and USF officials are still investigating the Dec. 17 incident, which occurred at a faculty meeting in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the College of Public Health.

Details of the incident have been sketchy.

Department chairman James Studnicki, who along with Santos filed a criminal complaint, has declined to speak with reporters about it. Wolfson and interim public health dean John Skinner, who were both at the meeting, have said there was a lot of yelling that day, but nothing violent.

Santos' lawsuit offers different version of events. The meeting, which Santos was there to record, began with an argument between Studnicki and Wolfson. When Studnicki tried to adjourn the meeting and asked Santos to leave with him, Wolfson grabbed her by the arm and thrust her back into her chair, the suit says. Santos said she was frightened by Wolfson's yelling and threats.

A few moments later, Studnicki again asked Santos to leave the room and to take her tape recorder with her. When Santos reached for the recorder, Wolfson "jumped on her back and reached over her in an effort of wrestle the records from her possession," the suit says. "As a result of (Wolfson's) unexpected attack, (Santos) was violently pushed headfirst into the chair upon which the recorder had been resting and as a result sustained personal injuries."

The Provost Office has asked three professors to decide whether faculty rules were broken.

I hope they do to. I am getting so tired of the conflicts of interest in this case. Is there anybody in the court system that isn't involved with this hospice and the 3 prime "suspects"?

After the Browning case, Felos became a volunteer for the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, sitting and talking with terminally ill patients. On his living room shelf sits a book for hospice training, Dying Well, by Ira Byock.

Sounds like he shops for clients

Again, I agree with you ..he is a whack job who thinks he is playing God

"Does anyone know how long after she suffered the heart attack and subsequent brain damage, that her husband began his pursuit to help her die through the courts?"

I understand that it took 8 years for him to "recall" that she hadn't wanted to be kept alive. According to her brother, it was in 1998.

Except for the other people and crew on it, one might be tempted to wish he had succeeded.
