I understand that Michael will NOT be out of the picture, even with the Ad whatsahoosit guardian. He will represent Terri in the courts and Michael STILL makes her decisions. We know where that is going, don't we?

No. A judge will make the decisions. The ad litem has access to Terri, to staff, to medical records, etc. and reports to the court as Terri's legal representative. The only reason to appoint an ad litem is because the current "guardian" is deemed questionable. Only if the judge himself has questionable motives (ex: Greer) will the ad litem appointment do Terri no good.
