I want to let you know what the courts definition of a Guardian Ad Litem is.
A GAL is an attorney who is appointed by a judge to investigate the situation of his ward. He/she should then put together a court memo with what he/she has learned along with recommendations and best course of action for the ward. This person must also be unbiased!!
Michael cannot be the GAL for Terri, as he is not an attorney.

But what's to keep the judge (Greer?) from appointing Felos? Or one of his minions?

Unless things have changed in Florida since I went to law school there, the GALs do not have to be attorneys. The GAL program was actively recruiting law students to serve as GALs while still in law school, and a couple of my classmates did it.
