Scientist: Many Athletes Use Steroids

Scores of top athletes may be using a designer steroid drug, says the scientist who identified it.

Don Catlin, molecular pharmacologist at UCLA's Olympic Analytical Laboratory, led an eight-man team that identified the previously undetected steroid, according to the New York Times.

The team conducted tests that suggested that up to a half-dozen athletes in track and field had used the drug, Catlin said. He thinks other athletes were probably using similar unidentified drugs.

Use of the drug, the steroid tetrahydrogestrinone, or THG, is the subject of a federal investigation that started with track and field athletes "but appears likely to involve dozens of other professional athletes," the Times said.

About 40 athletes have been called before a San Francisco federal grand jury investigating a sports nutrition company accused of creating the drug.

Among them, the newspaper reports, is Jason Giambi of the Yankees, who said he had not done anything wrong and was only vaguely aware of the investigation.

How long before plastic sugeons are able to prescribe "cosmetic steroids". This will provide for weekly monitoring visits and steady income.

Steroids work.
But then you can have health problems. Heart trouble. Baldness. Liver trouble. Tumors. No thanks.

The natural way is best. Healthy diet, etc.
I'll stick with protein supplements, carbo after training, creatine, L-Carnitine, HMB and regular exercise... hmmmmm...

The only way is to do CARDIO!!!
That is cardio exercise. Things like running, biking, stair stepping. You should start out slowly, and monitor your heart rate while exercising.

Your body will burn a greater percentage of fat calories at 60% of your maximum heart rate (Max=220-age), but you will need to exercise longer.
Cardio exercise get the best effect at between 70% and 80% of your maximum.

Don't overdo it in the beginning. Start out with fatburning and move up to cardio gradually depending on your condition. Results will come pretty fast if your consistent.

Your ideal heart rate will depend upon your age, but here's an easy calculator: Ideal Heart Rate for Exercise
Here's another

A lot of people think that if you want to eliminate a gut, you have to do lots of situps or crunches... and that you can "spot reduce". FALSE!
Fat comes off from all over. Cardio or fatburn exercise is the only way to do it. It also wouldn't hurt to do some abdominal exercises - yes, everybody else hates them too!

From what I have read, this THG was a rather weak steroid that wouldn't give particularly good results.
