WASHINGTON (AP) -- Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld questioned whether the United States was doing enough to win the war on terrorism, citing "mixed results" in the fight against al-Qaida in a pointed memo to top Pentagon officials last week.

The press is going to have a field day with this one.
Rummy is generally so positive that his negative tone rather surprised me.

In other words, Rummy asks:
What has the State Department done of any value, to fight the war on terror?
To: Peach
I would say the memo consists of a series of questions we should be asking ourselves in the War on Terror. I don't see it as extremely negative, but more of a "Where are we now, what do we need to do" memo.
I think this article cherry picked the most negative statements. I would like to see the whole memo.

The memo is nothing but a set of talking points. No state secrets here.

Exactly! I would be concerned if he DID NOT ask these questions.

Sounds like "RUMMY" is asking the right questions.
Hey State Dept. talking and BS...ing only makes this war drag on. Oh, CIA could you please actually provide accurate intel.
I don't have a clue who leaked this, maybe one of Hillary's generals, but it does tell it straight that ending the mindset of religious killings will take a long time to stop.
Just like liberalism once it takes a foothold it is like a fungus and almost impossible to get rid of.
However, it does point to the fact that "talking" has not dampened the intentions of these "killers".

I agree. The "negative" ones are in the Congress, and their "media whores", who wring their hands and give confidence to the religious killers.

Just maybe this was a story planted to find ouw where the Administration leak is/was?
If so, I hope the 'get all the rope in texas and find a tall Oak Tree, Hang em high in the sky for everyone to see'.
Wouldn't it be precious if it was a Clinton appointee that it was traced to?

"I would say the memo consists of a series of questions we should be asking ourselves in the War on Terror."
Clearly correct. I would further say that the country is most fortunate to have an excellent Secretary of Defense at this time.

It is exactly what you would expect from a thoughtful patriot reviewing our progress to date. Thoughtful patriot indeed. Well put. I agree. Also, your about page just about describes moi. In Liberty.

I think people are misinterpreting this memo.
Rummy is not exactly PC, so he does not strike me as the "Islam is peace" type. He may be chaffing at the State Dept. BS.
