That phrasing really is most peculiar. It sounds like speech that was planned and that he is thinking in the 3rd person.

Yeah--the third person! Like he's detached from Laci, like he never actually knew her! When asked something about fighting or arguments, something like, "did the two of you ever argue", he doesn't say, "I would never, ever hit my wife or do violence to a woman." Instead, he says "violence against women is unapproachable."

Guess the subject of violence is one which he dares not approach!
