I think I remember when you first got that idea that in one of the conversations btw Scott and Amber, that Carroll was referred to. I sort of remember reading an article posted by Vel, think it was an NE article. And at the end of it Carroll's name was mentioned, and I have this vague memory that you said something like, wow, wonder what else they said about Carroll?

I can try to run down the above post, but my son is needing the computer. Do you think you could find that set of posts? What I remember about it is detailed above. My son is bugging me, or else I'd try to find it right now!

It's just that I didn't think that was what the article meant, but I can't explain why I thought that w/o our having the article in front of us! It was about a week ago, I think. Sorry I can't remember more about it.

The defense has to make a certain showing in order to even get a hearing on this Franks wiretap issue (concerning the affidavits.) They made their showing in those pleadings they submitted, the ones we found on the official site. The state made a counter-showing.

If the defense's showing meets the level required for this issue to be further litigated right now, then the judge will grant a hearing, which is the hearing they are calling the "Franks" hearing. If the defendant's showing DOESN'T meet that level, then the judge will say, "No Franks hearing necessary."

As far as I know, the judge hasn't said either way whether he will allow this bit about lies/wilful misrepresentations in the affidavits, to be further litigated right now. IOW, as far as I know, the judge hasn't said yes or no on whether there will be a Franks hearing.

ROFL! Now, lemme see, usually it's the DEFENSE in high profile cases trying to clean up a scruffy-looking defendant, isn't it? Like those cute little "choir boys" in FL? So, the prosecution told Amber she'd better get a high-profile lawyer, like Allred, get a make-over, probably get lessons on how to speak (ala Professor Higgins and what'shername in My Fair Lady), and voila! we've got a little lady who goes to church every Sunday, and who got taken in by this married scumbag! Too bad Gloria was already busy--the little lady in Colorado who was claiming "rape" against Kobe Bryant certainly could have used some help! Someone needed to tell her not to wear dirty panties to get a rape test! Small wonder anyone ever questions our "judicial" system!

You watching Rita? Guy from the Globe is on talking about Scott's confession to adjoining cellmate and drinking fermented "Pruno" (sp? made from fermented fruit - common prison concoction). Scott confessed to being angry and hitting Laci with a club. He never wanted a child and was angry at Laci...

Exactly. You can think of it as a game if you want, but it is indeed important to try to get a witness to come off well b/f a jury. Some people, however, can't be helped. Don't forget, also, that sometimes the opposite happens--instead of looking too scruffy for the jury to like them, a person looks too "rich". In particular, women on a jury are going to not really like a woman witness who is too fancily dressed and, well, too pretty. (Er... Amber doesn't have any worries in that department!)

The last paragraph of that post says,

I've brought this up b/f, but once again I am eerily reminded of that entry from Laci's guestbook, way, way, early on in this thing. I mean, it was in late December or early January. Remember the official Laci website? Remember how people were writing their condolences, and (later) reviling Scott, in the guestbook?

And someone here told us there was this entry--this was long b/f we knew of Amber, remember--by this woman who claimed she was from Modesto. And it said, as nearly as I can remember,

I wish the best for Laci's family. But Scott had a girlfriend, and was not as excited about this baby as Laci was.

Did they discuss how, logistically speaking, he could've hit her with a golf club hard enough to kill her, while in the HOUSE? Golf clubs are long, and he's tall!

We know their ceilings in that bungalow were not high ceilings. So how could he have swung it w/o leaving a gouge in the ceiling or wall, or hitting and damaging furniture? I assume--I hope--the cops were observant enough to look for such damage!

I did get to see Rita. I felt there might be a ring of truth to the inmates story. Doesn't it sound just like Scott to get angry at events after one of the hearings and start blamming Laci for his troubles. Scott is such a narcisstic a$$,its all about him.

Hey Maggie, I am an RN also. I just have not nursed since my children were born. I wanted to be a stay at home Mom. Besides at that time, I did not need to work. Only when my kids were graduating highschool did I start doing office overload in my husbands Law Office. Somehow, the helper routing evolved into a full time job and my husband trained me in all aspects of legal secretarial work. I then took the test to become a Paralegal with papers. Although I did NOT need papers, if I ever had to get a job somewhere other than our business, accreditation is invaluable. So in reality I am both an RN and a Paralegal!! The Paralegal part was NEVER my intention but it became my husband's intention. GRRRRRR I want free time.

I dunno, I still can't see him being able to swing it like that in the house w/o its bumping into something--something besides its "target"--when he swung. Whether she was sitting, lying, or standing, he's still at least 6' tall, and when he swung it upward to get force, it would still have hit the ceiling!

Its hitting her head wouldn't have made the end come off. So if it happened, seems it would've had to hit something harder than someone's head for the end of the club to come off.

CC I heard one of the Forensic Pathologists say that Laci was NOT beheaded because her head attached detached from down below the neck and into the back area. High up on the back but "below" the neck. Not possible to detach a head there without leaving some good evidence of the tool(s) used.

No it wouldn't necessarily produce blood. The cranium is a closed cavity filled with tissue but enclosed by bone. Only if he had her with something sharp enoough to go through the skull should there be any blood.!
