LOL!!! The most my dog gets to roll in is dead insect carcasses! Although the other day in the park he suddenly fell to the ground on top of something--I didn't dare to look to see what had died.
What's funny is the way he sniffs something dead, then all of a sudden he literally falls to the ground on top of it, like a 60's protester going into "passive resistance"! Why do dogs want to smell like dead things??

"unless... she was sporting a strap on" ROFL!!! OP!!! This is conjuring up images which may make me lose my lunch--and I haven't even had lunch yet!!

Do you think Jackie is checking if she can put SP up for adoption at this late date?
(Ouch, sorry I know that was mean, but....what the heck. Coffee grinder broke this morning and I'm NOT happy drinking this instant swill)

LOL!! "Ladies and gentlemen, these biased police just didn't like my client because he had a bad dye job! They have a history of pulling over Tinted Americans without probable cause!"

I believe she went back to hospice after having her g tube put back in.
It is major surg to have on placed so the fact that she has been released back to her placement facility is a good thing.
I cannot bear to go to the Terri threads as it is to close to home and we are pro life.

Why do dogs want to smell like dead things??I know what you mean - they have super-snouts! I think that they just learn so much more than we could with our inferior sense of smell.
I have heard a theory about why they like to roll around on/near a dead carcass. I've heard that they do that so that they can communicate exactly what they found to other members of the pack.
Who knows, really? All I know is that dogs are pretty good at being dogs, so I wish I could just ask them this kind of stuff sometimes. ;-)

A likely theory. That's another thing! Who the heck calls those things market umbrellas? Patio umbrellas, yes....but market umbrellas?
To: Velveeta
Oh, no, now this thread is getting like yesterday's!! ROFL!!
I have this image of this really big basket on someone's doorstep, with a little note attached to it, "Take good care of him..."

It's great having your expertise here to deal with these puzzling issues, thanks!
To: Scenic Sounds
Interesting. So it must not be too hard to train them to look for dead bodies. The dog probably already wants to find the dead body anyway, so he can roll in it.
[Note to self: specify in will that no dogs allowed at funeral.]

What a hoot! Your tag line is priceless.

This thread is going to the dogs?! Ruff, I know.

[Note to self: specify in will that no dogs allowed at funeral.]LMAO!
Dogs have such a powerful sense of smell. Sometimes I wish that I could experience the sensory input that they receive for just a little while.
But just for a little while. ;-)

I think they're called market umbrellas to specify that they're freestanding, unlike the umbrellas that sit in the middle of a table?
To: Diver Dave
Seems a live dog would do a better job. :)In this case, same result. But the dead dog requires less expense to maintain.

Oh, wow, that reminds me! Does everyone have a nice brooch to wear? (Gloria's brooches are a little on the large side...)
To: maggiefluffs
NOOOOO!!!
Hey, they'll just have to go on the weekend if necessary! They used to have court on the weekends in New Orleans if necessary, why can't these guys do that??
To: Devil_Anse
LOL I just had a cartoon image of a baby Scaughty with an adult size head sucking on his binky while stuffed in that basket.
