this did not show how good jeb bush was...it did show how amazing the american people are...think about it...strangers,who don't know terri or each other formed a great force of power that FORCED the legislature and jeb to do something..these americans are what makes america great..not the political hacks who have to be forced to do the right thing.....

For those that don't find this courageous .. realize that there will be legal challenges to this and that the separation of powers will be tested. Gov. Bush and the legislature have 'called out' the liberal judiciary in Florida, and exerted their right to protect life. This fight is far from over. Pray for Terri's recovery and response to therapy, and soon, as this battle is one 'we' might lose in the courts when all is said and done.

I did not know the law of Florida, and I was willing to forgive Bush; however, I was swayed (as in, like a hurricane) by the Freepers who were outraged that he did nothing).

I assumed that he couldn't do anything.

but then, you all know what they say about "assume"... it makes an... a** out of U and Me.

Anyway, thank you Jeb Bush, for doing the right thing!

WOOHOO!

What a great day!

Seems Jeb Bush COULD do something about it after all, despite arguments to the contrary.

And he did!

(Thank the Good Lord and Jeb Bush and all the congressmen who did what was their duty).

If people hadn't pressured him through public criticism, if people hadn't held his feet to the fire, if people hadn't shown him that they were watching and did not approve, would he have done anything? Would he have stuck with it or would he have just said, 'It's out of my hands. It's up to the courts.' which was his initial stand. Would he have done the right thing even it no one was watching? We'll never know. As far as I can tell he is just a politician that responded to public pressure. He has only done what he should have done, and perhaps too late at that. He deserves no apologies.

I really thought Jeb was gonna footdrag on this till it was too late, and the best Terri'd get was a memorial Terri's Law, "to prevent similar tragedies in the future." I am delighted to be proven wrong, and I am very glad Terri's parents will not have to go through the hell others are going through, wondering if their loved one could have been saved.

And more good news : Not only is Terri's tube back in, but she's been removed from that hospice , AND Michael Shiavo appears to be about to lose his "guardianship" of her. Thank God!

I did not put the bad-mouth on Gov. Bush.

I will confess that i doubted his leadership and comittment to doing what was right.

He certainly proved himself on both counts.

Well done Gov. Bush!

I only wish something could have been done before the tube was pulled; it wasn't as if nobody knew about it; there was a poll I freeped quite awhile back that was going badly for Terri.

It was public outrage that finally turned the tide imo. This is a victory, but still Terri and her family have been put through an unbelieveable hell.

They went the whole weekend and finally called the session on Monday. I'm thankful something was finally done and am grateful to Governor Jeb Bush for doing the right thing.

I never attacked him but I did doubt he had the ability to do something for the last several days ( up until last night). My sincere apologies, Jeb. You have my lifelong loyalty now.

Jeb Bush Detractors can leave their apologies here.

It is nice that after a mountain of protest and pleading was directed at Gov. Bush he finally found the 'legal' means to do something in calling an emergency session of the Fl. legislature. It is also nice that the legislature responded so promptly by complying with his request before the end of the day. It is terrific that they have implemented a temporary one time solution to the immediate problem of feeding and watering Terri too.

It's a wonderful political CYA for them all. This fire in the underground media has been quenched for the time being and they have bought some time to reassess their positions and reassure their lobbyists.

Thank you, Gov.Bush, for taking the bold step of calling a special session on the behalf of the life of a citizen. May you and the legislature be successful in changing the laws that allow the courts to be the last unchallenged word on the life and death of a citizen who cannot speak. May your investigations of Judge Greer's conflicts of interest, M. Schiavo's self serving guardianship and the higher courts refusal to hear appeals go well.

Well, I'll pony up.

I didn't think Jeb had it in him. I'm glad I was wrong. I'll be wrong like that any day of the week!

I don't remember getting that extreme in my comments about Jeb Bush, but I did make comments pertaining to his manliness. I was wrong. It turns out he wanted his actions to be appeal proof, which was an extremely smart move. Way smarter than I would have done.
