Yup. Was called alarmist, paranoid and biased when i mentioned this last summer.
So I was, but that doesn't mean....
Eventually Paki nukes go to Saudi; Bhutto in the 70's called for an Islamic bomb. Now the fun and games begin...

It's deja vu all over again....

And also, Haaretz is quoting what an Israeli official said in a Parliament security committee today in Israel. Other media in Israel is reporting the same thing.

Yeah, I remember alot of us sounding the warnings of this happening. Some of us were called anti-W and anti-Arab. You can not trust the House of Saud. Why this nation will not review history and realize that is beyond me.

Sounds like the Saudis heard so much about preemptive strike that they want a piece of it?
Works for me.
What's it gonna be? Make Israel do what we want or Riyahd gets it?

Dominated by the militant Wahhabi religious sect, Saudi Arabia has given rise to many extremists and terrorists," including Sept. 11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. "In 1981, the Sheihk Idriss Mosque is built in Seattle's north end, near the Northgate shopping mall. It is Seattle's first mosque, and the first mosque west of the Mississippi River to be built in a Middle Eastern design."
Funds for the building were donated by Saudi Arabian Sheik Abdel-Keder Idriss.

[tubavil] this terror mosque is the largest in Seattle and the one the mdeia always trots as peace-loving and wholesome, on par with Christian churches.

Somewhere in my science fiction collection is a story of the future i n which the Moslem people are slowly rebuilding the devastated Middle East following their losing an all-out war.
I know it's fiction because all they seem to build are mosques and schools teaching hatred and destruction.

"There's no conventional way to deter us from grabbing their oil fields." A recognizably unlikely motivation. The Saudis are smarter than that. We have zero interest in "grabbing their oil fields" and are perfectly satisfied to buy their oil at the market price.
They know this.

"Then why do they continue funding terror activities against Israel?" It seems evident, doesn't it, that there is a schism within the Saudi government and the ruling family.
In the vernacular of the War on Terror, there are those who are with us...and those who are against us. The latter are those doing the funding -- not only against Israel, but all of the West. Most particularly, the U.S.
By removing our military presence from the peninsula, we have given those who are with us the opportunity to a.) deal with the troublemakers and b.) reform their system.
By removing that presence to Qatar and Iraq, just next door and across the alley, so speak, we remain in a position to deal with those who are against us...if it comes to that.

The Saudi Government, as a whole with its policy, supports, harbors and sponsors terrorism. We should treat it as an enemy.

"We should treat it as an enemy." Not publicly. Not yet.
Like the other regimes that Bush has dealt with in the War on Terror, they are being given a chance to clean their own house first.
Privately, I imagine the conversation is quite cold. And very pointed.

"If we are to stick to principle, we would call it what it is." The principle, as in any war, is to isolate your enemies and fight them one at a time. Plus, not fight battles that may not need to be fought. And, finally, not to make new and unwanted enemies gratuitiously.

We have not isolated Saudi Arabia. We continue to meet with them and call them "partners" in the war on terrorism. Saudi Arabia views us as enemy.

"We have not isolated Saudi Arabia." Uh...who is their economy dependent upon?
Who would come to their aid and defend them, in the event they did something stupid?
We have bases in Iraq, Qatar, Oman and Djibouti. Israel covers the northwest quadrant. I'd call that surrounded.

We depend on Saudi Oil, and it is therefore why they are not scared of us, and why we do not criticize them much for terror.
