This needs to be stopped at all costs. We're looking at Israel having no choice but to make pre-emptive strikes on Mecca (generically, Saudi Arabia). This will be an utter disaster if the Paki's go through with it.

Any other confirmations of this? (This is a big deal!)

Don't have confirmation, but I think I saw someone discussing this on TV in the past few days. They made the point that Saudi Arabia is a signatory to the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but so is Germany. Germany has had US nuclear weapons deployed in its territory during the Cold War, but did not violate its treaty obligations because the weapons were not under German control. The Saudis supposedly want Pakistani nukes on their soil, but they will at least nominally be under Pakistani control.

If so, this will be the end of the US backing the Saudi regime...they'll be on their own with no one but Pakistan to defend them. And I'm sure Israel won't sit still for this threat. The Saudis are fools if they try this. Well actually, they are fools no matter what...but they are fools that won't survive if they try this.

Not that I disagree that we need to take action against this, but what CAN we do?

I hope they do and we finally bomb them into nonexistence and get it over with once and for all!

It will be the end of the Congress backing the regime. We will see what the WH does.

Unfortunately, Pres. Bush won't do a thing to stop this. Are Saudi "friends" need protection from whom?

I don't have a problem with bombing them into oblivion, but I'd as soon wait until we get our men and women out of there, including my son who is currently on the Sinai Peninsula as part of the MFO.
January can't get here fast enough.

This is a brilliant move by the otherwise numbskull Saudis: Pakistani nukes mounted on their Chinese-built ballistic missiles, pointed right at Israel and Iran. It's killing several birds with one stone.
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to stop this - Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are both "allies" in the war on terror.

"Not that I disagree that we need to take action against this, but what CAN we do?" Develop the Iraqi oil fields. Then, buy Iraqi.
The only defense the Saudis would have would be lower prices. In any event, their income goes into the toilet.
The Saudis know we can (and will) do this. They also know we simply won't allow any nukes on the peninsula. So, this rumor is gamesmanship, nothing more.

You forgot to mention China. The Pakis are supplying the nuclear materiel, the Chinese are still responsible for operating those intermediate-range missiles on Saudi territory.
This may be only the tip of the iceberg. There's been speculation in other circles that the Saudis are negotiating with China to replace the aging CSS-2 ballistic missiles with the far more capable CSS-5, China's version of the lethal-accurate Pershing II.

SAUDIS HOLD MAJOR COMBINED EXERCISE
ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia has launched a major air and naval exercise in the northwestern part of the kingdom near the Israeli border.
The Saudi exercise includes advanced fighter-jets as the F-15S, as well as fast attack naval craft and air defense systems. The air portion of the exercise has been directed by the Saudi E-3A airborne warning and control systems.
Saudi officials said the exercise began last week, with headquarters at the King Faisal Air Base at Tabuk, near the Jordanian border and 200 kilometers from Israel. The officials said the exercise was part of a series of maneuvers that would take place along Saudi Arabia's northern border.
The maneuvers were termed a combined exercise that included nearly every major wing of the Saudi military. They included the navy, air force and air defense command.

The Saudis' income is already down the toilet. Per capita GDP stands at barely one-third of where it stood 20 years ago. But when was the last time plummeting national income made a despotic regime seeking to acquire WMD any less dangerous? Pakistan is a failed state and is yet the most dangerous Islamic nation in the world; Saudi Arabia being a semi-failed state, there's a lot of trouble they can cause for Israel should they team up. They both know they'll get away with this for the simple reason that we won't renounce two of our most important alliances in the war on terror - well, at least Bush & Co. are that way.
