Radical Islam is the new Nazism. Until this fact is faced and, the views are repudiated, the cancer will grow.
I'd like to see Bush, Rice, Powell etc. take a much stronger stand on this on the world stage.

Throughout history, Jews have traditionally been better treated in Muslim countries than in Christian ones and pious Muslims around the world have lived for centuries without letting their attitude towards Jews be charged with anti-Semitism.???? Urban Legend.
To: dennisw
And this is the situation in swedish public schools. There are a lot of private muslim schools here funded by vouchers where the attitude is a lot worse.

These students view the Holocaust as Zionistic propaganda, express admiration for Hitler and regret that he didn't succeed in killing more Jews. No contradiction there, nosiree. These people are truly sick, beyond any hope of a cure. What bothers me is not that people like this exist (well, OK, it DOES bother me somewhat), but that others tolerate or encourage them to immigrate and settle into their own societies. Why does Sweden, of all countries, want a bunch of people from the Mideast living there? Are they THAT blind? The rest of Europe is even worse. They'll eventually reap what they have sown, but I wish that they'd be smart enough to avoid it.

The elite left in Sweden is just as anti-semetic as the elite left in the US. Otherwise, this problem would have been quickly seen to.

What is it with the Muslim culture that they assign blame for all of their own self-made problems to everyone (non-muslim) else? They are incapable of taking responsibility or using any kind of factual reasoning for anything. Its like the entire culture has dropped acid and are all on the same delusional trip.
I swear, if they didnt happen to plop down on good real estate they would be extinct.

No, NOT an urban legend. Until the 20th century and the politics of the modern Mideast intervened, Moslem countries DID treat Jews fairly well. Jews were still 2nd class citizens, but for the most part were left alone as long as they didn't commit such heinous crimes as building a synogogue taller than the local mosque. Look at the Jewish experience in Spain until the (Christian) Expulsion in 1492 - for well over 500 years Jews could do pretty much anything, and rose to high levels in government and business (kind of like the US now). The Moslem Turks took in a tremendous number of Jews after the Spanish Expulsion/Inquistition. Compare and contrast this with the massacres during the Crusades, the multiple expulsions from virtually every European country or principality, the treatment of Jews during and immediately after the Black Death (it was the Jews' fault, don't you know, even if they also died in very large numbers - thus it was "OK" to burn 2,000 Jews alive at Strasburg (in what is today France) on St. Valentine's Day of 1349, the virulent anti-Semitism of eastern Europe and Russia (including the near destruction of the Jewish population of the Ukraine region by Chmelnicki in the mid-1600's).
Yes, there are many examples to the contrary in both the Moslem and Christian worlds - but the earlier statement is largely the truth, not some PC defense of the Moslems. FWIW, I'm Jewish and I've studied the history of this matter . . . and without attempting to be nasty in any way, I'd say that you might benefit by studying it as well.

The information I have is from "Sword of the Prophet" by Serge Trifkovic. I would say the historical treatment of Jews in the Islamic world was not better that treatment in Europe and Russia. Was about the same. You can also refer to Bat Ye'or books for the same verdict.

No suprise. Folks should rent (if available) a good old movie "Counterfeit Traitor"
starring William Holden.
I've thought that this would have been a good one for Mel Gibson to remake.

good book?
Thanks for the heads-up.

The last thing Islam (and Muslims) are interested in is self reflection and self criticism. It's a culture of blame and shame. They will blame others and avoid shame as well as they can. One of their major shames is to admit fault and wrongness.

Very well done though he's not entirely clear as to what caused Islamic nations to fall behind and stay behind the West. Remember for over 800 years, the Middle East was at the forefront of science, medicine and the arts. I believe his argument was that since Islam never had a separation of governmental and religious spheres one stopped development in the other i.e. if it wasn't in the Koran, its sucks.
