I seriously pity you. Auditory pollution is actually worse than almost any other kind, as it affects the mind (the mind kind of tapes it). Could you wear ear plugs, as my husband does when using chainsaws and other loud machinery? Or even the large kind, so they get the point about the foul sounds? NPR is truly evil, smarmy, sick, peurile hatespeech. They have this kind of full-of-themselves self-righteousness which is particularly abhorrant.
And have you noticed the strange similarity in the voices of Barney Frank and Daniel Schorr? Has anyone seen them together? I am wondering if they are the same "person"!

As to ear plugs, yes I occaisionally use them, they're necessary when in proximity to the machinery. However, having to be subjected to that drivel when I'm taking my break absolutely nauseates me...
