Someone needs to send this list of infectious songs to Gitmo. I've heard that they were using Barney and Megadeath (or some other loud band) to break some prisoners. This should allow them to vary their playlist and use some songs that really "stay with you".

Heyy, heyy, we're the Monkees!
Worst night of bowling was with that song stuck in my head. OTOH, it knocked that spider song from "Eight Legged Freaks" right out of my head.

The earworm I always hear is that phone-is-off-the-hook BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP.
It is with me 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
I'm buying a rifle soon.

Awright, one more:
Judy in disguise,
Well that's what you are
Lemonade pie
With a brand new car.
Cantalope eyes come to me tonight
Judy in disguise
With glasses!
To: Lazamataz
Hello--how are you
Have you been alright, through all those lonely nights,
That's what I'd say, I'd tell you everything,
If you'd pick up that telephone.
Hey--how you feelin'
Are you still the same
Don't you realize the things we did were all for real not a dream,
I just can't believe
They've all faded out of view.
I look into the sky
(The love you need ain't gonna see you through.)
And I wonder why
(The little things are finally coming true.)
CHORUS
Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
O.K. so no--one's answering,
Well can't you just let it ring a little longer
I'll just sit tight, through the shadows of the night
Let it ring for evermore.
CHORUS -- repeat

"I love you. You love me. We're a happy family...." The ending song on Barney. I still can't stand the song. The way to rid yourself of that earworm is to imagine Barney singing the following substituted lyrics to the children:
"I love you. You love me. Now it's time for sodomy...."

Bird.
Bird.
Bird is the word.
Bird bird bird.
Bird is the word.
Well, don't you know about the bird
Everybody's talkin' about the bird
Bird bird bird,
Bird is the word.

Here's an uglier one "beeee-breeee-BREEEEE - The number you have dialed is disconnected or no longer in service. Please check the number you were dialing and try back again later."

One of the things that happens to me is I get Tom Lehrer earworms. Try this one:
There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium,
And hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium
And nickel, neodymium, neptunium, germanium,
And iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium,
Europium, zirconium, lutetium, vanadium
And lanthanum and osmium and astatine and radium
And gold, protactinium and indium and gallium
And iodine and thorium and thulium and thallium.

I don't catch 80s cover bands much but I saw Molly & The Ringwalds at the Continental Club one Friday night (I was there early for another show). They have a regular happy hour gig there on Fridays and they included Guyana Punch in their set. Don't know if they do any other Judys covers.
The songs are still known in this town.

Make sure you get a scope. Oh, and make sure you let somebody know what your middle name is for the whole posterity thing.

I love Southern Cross. Was very pleased to hear Jimmy Buffett sing it in his concerts as well.

Good grief...I haven't been to the Continental Club since I saw 80's bands there actually IN the 80's...like D-Day and The Standing Waves.
When the Judys broke up in '82, David Bean formed a group called "David Bean and the Boy Radio Show." I was a singer/dancer in the band and we promoted his "Modomusic" album. Our most notable performances were opening for Lene Lovitch at Numbers and for the B-52s at The Meadows in Austin. He teamed up with The Dishes for a while and then re-grouped with The original Judys in around '86 with an extended "cast." I was one of those. We played at The Ritz in Austin, Numbers and The Arena Theatre to name a few.
Ahhhh, youth!
'Nuff braggin' and reminiscin' for one day. :-)
