To: billorites
Jeez man! I actually bought a Tom Jones album to get that song in entirety and remove it from the Cranium playlist.
No Dice.

Today's the day the Teddybears have their PIC-nic. My parents gave me a bear that played that when I was about four.
I think I was doomed from that point forward.
Which reminds me of other bear tunes..."He goes wa wa wa wa wa wa waltzing with bears..."

A newer song that entered that playlist is:
Friday night I'm going nowhere
All the lights are changing green to red
Turning over TV stations
Situations running through my head
Well looking back through time
You know it's clear that I've been blind
I've been a fool
To ever open up my heart
To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridicule
Saturday I'm running wild
And all the lights are changing red to green
Moving through the crowd I'm pushing
Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream
Only wish that you were here
You know I'm seeing it so clear
I've been afraid
To show you how I really feel
Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made
If you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon
Sunday all the lights of London
Shining , Sky is fading red to blue
I'm kicking through the Autumn leaves
And wondering where it is you might be going to
Turning back for home
You know I'm feeling so alone
I can't believe
Climbing on the stair
I turn around to see you smiling there
In front of me
If you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon, Babylon

A cure for "earworms".
As a musician who has played in many bands, and former DJ of 13 years on the radio, I have many hundreds of memories of songs bouncing around...not to mention the latest ones I'm trying to learn...ah but I digress.
The best cure for "earworms" is to do the following:
1. Find the song, on tape, CD or radio. Listen to it all the way through.
2. Then, go on and forget about it.
well...works for me. ;)

I'm sorry to do this, but here's the nuclear bomb of bad songs to get stuck in your head. Worse than tie a yellow ribbon. Worse than going through the desert on a horse with no name. Worse than ain't no sunshine. Worse than Sugar, sugar.
Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed,
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants
CHORUS
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around you
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
CHORUS
There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one.
I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky.
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why.
extended (1:24) up-tempo instrumental interlude that rivals anything done by Chicago or even "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh NO!! (upon which Harris suffers an irreversible gender change)

Chaotic, isn't it?
Is there a Spybot program for the brain? I think my mental capacity is being taken up by all these tunes cavorting around my head.

ping. Gotta save this to finish later. The first page had me laughing and singing almost mentioned song throughout the reading.

I was so miserable before I clicked on this thread. Wouldn't have believed I could laugh today. Amazing how a little humor lifts a cloud enough so that you can see the anvil falling out of it onto your head--but you don't care.
