Buck Knife Recommends Cutting Use Of MiniBuck Knives
wlky ^ | 10-20-03

The Buck Knife Co. of California says if you have one of their MiniBuck Knives, you should stop using it.

They have recalled 2,000 of them. According to the company, the MiniBuck knives have black plastic handles that can crack. A person could be hurt on the exposed blade.

They were sold in department, sporting goods and specialty stores nationwide from July 2003 through September 2003 for about $15.

The company will give free replacements for the knives. Call (800) 215-2825.

For more information on the recall visit the Web site of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Shoot, I still have one in my pocket that I've had since the mid-eighties. No complaints here.

Yep! That was quite a coop. Spokane was also in the running I hear, but Washington State didn't want to help as much as Idaho did. They have already broken ground on the new site, no?

BTW, called Buck, the problem is only with knives made in July 2003. They have 425T etched on the blade. If you got yours before that it is fine.

Any idea if they will have a factory outlet store there. We have a Kawasaki plant near here, but unfortunately they don't.

I have several of those around somewhere.

They were being closed out along with a plastic flashlight (a very good flashlight btw) which took AAA batteries.

I think they sold the entire outfit at Wal-Mart on clearance for $6.00. Probably around $15 before clearance.

I doubt if I would ever put enough pressure on one to worry about injury even if it did break. Actually they are pretty decent knives.

I don't know. They would be foolish not to, with the concentration of outdoorsman in the area.

I read your post after I made mine. My knives are fine then because I got them several years ago.

I was just looking for my Buck knife to see if it had the correct etching. I've lost it! (I wonder if that's covered?)

Not sure, I take my son to pre-school in PF everyday, but I don't know where the new site is going to be.

Schrade Used to guarantee theirs against loss. I have no idea if they still do.

I lost one while camping and sure enought they sent me a new one. After I got the new one, I found the old one in a wooden box we use for keeping food while camping. I guess I should send the new one back but it would probably cause them more trouble than it is worth.

Yup. When I was growing up, you knew you were growing up when you got your first Buck knife. I still have the one my dad gave me way back then and it's a sharp as a razor.
