What competititon? For name brand quality outdoor goods, the choices tend to be the boutique shops and REI, or EMS if you're in the east. All of their prices, along with those of the catalog houses (Campmor, basically) are all with a couple percent of MSRP. General sporting goods discounters tend to have the cheap crap and salesmen who haven't a clue about things like whether a cartridge stove or liquid fuel is better above 10,000 feet. And REI's got the 10% rebate coupon for your total purchases over the year, so that makes them a better deal.
