I think the worst BS film of all was For Pete's Sake. The one thing about that film that stands out in my mind was a BS line : She tells her hostile sister in law that she should get electrolysis, so people won't think her husband is "shacking up with a fat grizzly bear". Such hilarity.

I.B. Singer, the author of 'Yentle' loathed what she had done with his story and wrote about it. Don't know but think his piece was in the New York Times.

The best thing about this is that it is NOT a politically inspired hit piece. It is squarely about her and it (she) aint pretty.

Wow! This writer appears to have been taking lessons from Mark Steyn. Thanks for posting.

The fact that BraBra has to continually remind us she is beautiful and intelligent tells volumes.
The fact that Laura Ingraham never mentions that she is beautiful or intelligent also tells volumes.

THE most horrifying sentences in the English language (in ascending order of terror) run as follows. Your bank card has been withheld. This figure is only an estimate. I have written a novel, would you give it a look? The boss wants to see you. This is going to hurt a bit, Im afraid. Come and see Barbra Streisand sing a song to her dead dog on television. Hey!
He forgot the most dreaded words of all...
"We gotta talk."

Now she is solemn and self-regarding to the point that Barry Humphries credits some of her more pretentious pronouncements (she told an interviewer her favourite painting was Munchs The Scream) for some of Dame Ednas blithe affectations. This is a common affliction among high school dropouts who have a one note life and well justified insecurity.
Like rap stars, and the other barely literate, she assumed that money was the be-all end-all of life, and is lashing back at the faustian bargain that can't seem to deliver the things she needs most and will never have: good looks and respect.

I thought about highlighting Bab's remarks re : The Beatles, and how she's more important than them because she is paid more than they were, but that would've been like swatting flies with a bowling ball. This woman is delusional!

I have a collection Of Singer's short stories. I cannot recommend his work highly enough. I actually thought about seeing Yentl because I liked the short story so much.
