There's a story going around (not sure if true, but it's been out there for years) that David Wells drank heavily the night before his perfect game at Yankee Stadium. Heck, that's what he originally claimed in his book! When word of that got out, his hangover mysteriously became a headache in the final version.

I know he was hungover the home start he had before the perfect game (against the Tigers). He was practically falling off the mound.
