It was an insult, implying that you will soon be banished.
I apolologize - folks with differing opinions should be welcomed in a free society.
So, welcome.

GET YOURSELF A SAVAGE MODEL 99 IN .308 WINCHESTER (or maybe 30-30) I would love to get one of these. They aren't made anymore, but they are SWEEET!!! I've found good ones chambered in the odd savage rounds, but those aren't common rounds. If you ever, EVER, find a model 99 in .308, you'd better buy it right freaking now! Then put a military style sling on it and one of those small scopes that mount far out on the barrel away from your eye, and you will have absolutely the very best all around rifle there is in the world, BAR NONE!
The Savage 99 sure is a sweet rifle. My uncle owns one just like you describe; I forget the variant but it was probably one of the last made in .308 with the rotary magazine. All the more recent ones have the detachable box magazine; still a fine design but not quite as nice, IMO, as the older integral magazine.
You're right, they are scarce. Savage made a run of 99s just a few years ago (some company anniversary, I think). I wish they'd put it back into regular production, but it is one expensive beast to machine (compared to the bolt actions). The only examples I've seen at gun shows for several years now are older models with hefty price tags - and usually chambered in Savage .250-3000 or some uncommon caliber.
I'd never thought of putting a "Scout" scope on a 99, but that should be a nice combo indeed.

It means you are going to have to don your Flame retardant suit, because you are about to be flamed. People that defend Rats here...usually don't get past the Admin Moderator or the Viking Kitties.

Someone who claims to be an unabashed gun nut and then even remotely admires Feinstein or respects her is going to raise suspicion around here, and rightly so. She is rabidly anti-gun, yet is reportedly a California CHL holder. Seems kind of hypocritical doesn't it?

In 1982, I was assigned to the Presidio of SF - DF was mayor. She had all of the homeless people in the city deported.

I own one of those Model 99's in .300 Savage.
I love it. Yea, it's a bit of a pain to reload for that caliber, but the rifle itself shoots straight and true.
Plus, it's a lever action which is just too cool to even talk about. When I shoot it, I feel like The Rifleman.

Oh...BTW...it's late where I am, but I will give you an education about
Feinstein. Since your new you will probably get the benefit of the doubt before the
Viking Kitties come hunt you down.

The entire liberal side of my family lives in fear of me because of my well known love of firearms, shooting and hunting. At one point one of the more jumpy youngins (the same one who complains that her daddy watching The Man Show is like "a kick to her womb" hehehe) openly speculated I was involved with some right wing milita. "Ha!" I scoffed, "I am the right wing milita."
LOL! Want to have some fun? Bring along a copy of the Shotgun News to your next family gathering and leave it unattended (kinda like "bait"). One of them will approach it cautiously, then take a tentative peek inside. Wait'll they see the ads for ladies underthings in RealTree camoflage, or perhaps the SARCO ad which prominently features WWII militaria collectibles - including the Waffen SS artifacts. Yea, verily, there will be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth. ;-D

Man, you poked the nest weel-and-good.
Ask FReepers for gun advice, and then support a gun grabber?
This is so machiavelian, one must believe you planned it.

I think I'll have to reserve the right to inspect your beer cooler myself.
