A distraught 10-year-old Red Sox fan should not be told that people are starving in Third World countries (dismissive). Or that it matters only that Red Sox players tried their very best (condescending). Or that the Red Sox are bound to win the World Series someday (possibly untrue). Instead, he should be told "Get used to it".

Maybe Bostonians can console themselves by going out to a showing of "No, No, Nanette".

Pathetic, mentally moronic, personality types.
These are those among us that cannot deal with life.
That's okay, give them an award for losing. There, all better now?

We've really turned into a soft mushy-headed "Oprah Nation", a nation of psychologically traumatized perpetual juveniles and those who feed that view point.
What about telling kids to "suck it up and deal with it"? That seemed to have worked for me and my family, growing up.

"The intensity of their feelings is very real," said Stuart Goldman, a psychiatrist at Children's Hospital in Boston and father of three. This is truly amusing.
Playing a game and worshipping it are two entirely different things.
My boys managed to survive to well-functioning adulthood without seeing baseball as an essential part of life.
And daughter just smiled at the brainless cheerleader bimbettes.
Both activities can disappear from the universe tomorrow with no discernable effect on the world, other than a possible rise in average IQ.

I think the best thing to do is to stop scoring the games. No winners, no losers.

Not every child will need solace
Give me a break! Solace? If I needed Solace or a f##king therapist everytime the sox broke my heart I would be sitting in a padded cell drooling by now.
My advice to the greiving child go outside and play!!

Any young bosox fans should be instructed in the fine art of YANKEE HATING.
Sad to Mad.

Just sell them on the tradition - "They do that to us every year - it's just part of the experience of growing up in New England, just like seeing the leaves change colors."
At least this time it wasn't because someone let a ground ball go through their legs, and the guy hitting the home run this time was a third baseman, not a light-hitting shortshop. Oh, and nobody interfered with the catcher while trying to bunt this time, either.

Un-PC Philosophy:
Play to win. If you don't win, be gracious, but learn from your experience and mistakes so the next time you play better.

They should just take a page from the Democrats, and say that the Yankees' pennant atop Yankee stadium was 'selected, not erected'.
