It seems to me that someone who had been trying to do a better job of security was rebuffed. His effort will result in some change and probably an ass kicking for complacent checkers.

I say more power to him.

He warned the FBI, they have been investigating him for several months, and yet he was able to place the bags simulating a threat. Maybe the FBI wasn't really watching him very closely -- or decided to not take him seriously. Hmmmm????

Tell the FBI what you plan to do, do it and then they catch you - doen.t seem to difficult to me. What if he had not told the FBI? Would they have ever caught him? Maybe so, but maybe to late.

In the long run, is it more expensive to prevent or recover from a terrorist atrocity?

An excellent question. The 9-11 hijackers succeeded in three of the four attempts because the passengers did what we'd been told to do: Behave passively in the face of aggression. It is the view of the pacifist and brings the same peace Chamberlain extracted from Hitler.

You are exactly right. Those days are over.

The article writer needs to get a life.

I can't imagine that you are all so pissed at this guy, when you should be pissed at the TSA. You all seem to be in one gigantic case of denial...'everything is fine, as long as nobody points out that it isn't'.

This punk deserves a medal, for exposing weaknesses in our airline security

I agree.

"Guys like this jacka$$ are dangerous. Almost as much as the terrorists themselves."

The outcome of the last terrorist attack using box cutters was thousands dead and the possibility of an attack on the whitehouse. How about the outcome of exposing lax security? No danger whatsoever. To somehow equate the two doesn't make sense.

Classic 'kill the messenger' story. The anger should be directed at those who keep our borders open, those who hassle 80 year old Medal of Honor winners, and those who support a security system that allows this to happen.

Other than bringing the arbitrarily "banned" items aboard an aircraft, I can't see that the guy did anything illegal. He didn't ask for money, he didn't threaten anyone, etc. He made some people look bad, but telling the emperor he has no clothes on isn't really a crime is it?

An FBI statement issued last night said only that agents "located and interviewed the individual believed responsible" and that he poses no further threat.

And he d@mn well better not for at least, say 20 years?
