Kach Sites Blacklisted In U.S.
Arutz 7 ^ | Oct. 17, 2003 | staff

AFP reports that for the first time, the U.S. has extended its terrorism blacklist to the internet, designating four websites run by supporters of Rabbi Meir Kahane as operated by "foreign terrorist organizations." A State Department official said that this is the "first time, to our knowledge, that a website or any website has been [thus] designated."

The four websites are: "www.Kahane.org", "www.Kahane.net", "www.Kahanetzadak.com" and "www.newkach.org". The officials say that Kahane's supporters, "who want to see the restoration of the biblical state of Israel," are accused of "a number" of attacks against Arabs, as well as "making threats" against Israeli officials. The State Department's apparent trump card is that Baruch Goldstein was "affiliated with Kach" and that Kach "issued statements in support of the attack." Goldstein is accused of killing 29 Arabs in a February 1994 shooting spree in Hevron's Tomb of the Patriarchs, at the same time that Arab terrorists there were reportedly planning a mass terror attack against Jews.

AFP reports that Khahane.org presents itself as the official Kahane website, that kahanetzadak.com declares that "Kahane was right" and complains that Prime Minister Sharon has not been tough enough in responding to Palestinian attacks, and that kahane.net "appears to be a compilation of links to web-based Judaica."

Are they going to get rid of all the militant Islamic websites too? I certainly hope so.

There was a thread posted here about an hour ago about Islamic sites.

Let's take a look at this a positive. This could be a preemptive move to ban all the Islamist terrorist sites on the net. Or this could be a token gesture to keep some critics happy. Either way, the sites will be back up in hours, or days, so this makes no sense.

By banning this site, does it allow the gov to capture ISP logs throughout the country to see who visited the banned sites, through the "Patriot Act"? What other reason besides PR would they go to this measure. What am I missing?

This could be a preemptive move to ban all the Islamist terrorist sites on the net.

If they genuninely tried to be even-handed, they would announce the banning of a bunch of Islamist sites and, as a hommage to "diversity," would ban a few of these. As it stands, it's pandering to Islamists.

The scum Goldstein did commit an atrocity. This was a mass murder but even at that it was not terrorism --- there was no objection to instil fear in the Arab population. This is in contrast to the dozens if not hundreds of homicidal attacks by Arabs designed not only to kill but to instil fear and paralyze the rest of Israel.

And the State Dept. begins with these four sites? No wonder the Arabs think we are idiots. No wonder we'll be attacked again.

I agree in whole, which is why I'm perplexed by this decision. Gut feeling is this is the first step towards making an investigation of the Kahanists public. Or it really is bureacratic malarky parading in government decree. Could be an attempt to further marginalize the mass deportation option pushed by the Kahane family. Again, there needs to be some media questions to the State Dept. fr clarifications... The Jewish or Israeli press will press the issue hopefully (because no American media is going to touch this one). Color me confused, and babbling on.

Oh, please: I am much more confused than you are. Thank you for the post; I have not thought about some possibilities (e.g., investigation of the Kahanists) that you raised.

Jewish "terrorist" websites blacklisted, muslim terror sites get pass from Powell and State Dept.

Can FR be far behind?

Kahane.org responds to arab-terrorist-supporting State Department "terrorist" web site designations.

www.newkach.org claims it's no longer connected to Kahane. The admin's one of those liberals who think Sharon is a war criminal:

Very strange and troubling, indeed.

I maintain the only reason we haven't been attacked again is because "no one has given the order".

I think Kahane was a little over the top, but he was hardly a terrorist in the style of the Palestinians. This is a typical gesture of political correctness. Kahane was affiliated with a lot of perfectly decent religious Jews who merely took their religion seriously. Is it a crime to say that Samaria and Judea ought to be part of Israel? Not on a par, I think, with strapping on dynamite and blowing up children.

I've met some Kahanists over the years. They talk big and they talk scary-- but they are all talk. 90% of them are nerdy Jewish boys with delusions of grandeur-- it makes them feel manly to talk extreme. None of the ones I've met though would have the stomach or balls to actually do anything violent-- which is precisely why they've there's zero proof of terrorist involvement-- none of them have done terrorist activities.

Kahane himself wasn't a violent man-- he advocated transfer, not genocide. And he didn't preach revolution to establish a Halachic State-- he wanted to get elected. I don't agree with him, and I'm not a Kahanist-- but he was no terrorist.

A good analogy might be between Communists and the Socialist Labor Party USA. Both advocated extreme, borderline evil positions. However, the Socialist Labor Party rejected violence, rejected cooperation with the Soviets (whom they despised) and preached that socialism could only be established democratically. The Communist scum who collaborated with Russia were traitors. The SLP were just misguided lefties. Similarly, Kahanists are just misguided Jewish nationalists.

All that being said... there's one key reason Kahane got banned in Israel: he was charismatic, and a huge threat to the established parties:

Few people notice that Kahane's platform is also found, in pieces, in other legal political parties. The Moledet Party (part of National Union) advocates transfer.

Similarly, Jewish Leadership (a Likud faction), Shas, and Degal H'Torah/Agudat Yisrael ALL advocate abolishing democracy and ruling Israel as a Halachic State.

Although all want that, none have actually formented plans on what type of government they'd want to replace the Knesset. I don't even know how a Halachic State could be established-- seeing as we lack a Sanhedrin (Rabbinical Supreme Court) and a King-- with no feasible way to recreate these institutions.

Kach is banned in Israel.

Even displaying their symbol is illegal there, similar to displaying the swastika in Germany.

Reason? They're BAD NEWS.

the AFP got it wrong, a 30 second google uncovered their sloppy bias reporting. Lies through omission. Blatant. The French 'reporter' chose to highlight 3 Jewish websites out of a list of 28 terrorist websites . FARC, PLO, HAMAS, Basque ETA, Al-Qeada etc.

/no bias here folks, move along

http://usembassy.state.gov/srilanka/wwwhot1006.html

Deducing from the article Kahane has been listed since 1999.

Do you have the first idea what Kahade advocated? What exactly made him a "bad Jew"?

C'mon, inquiring minds want to know...

I'm not talking about Kahane, I'm talking about the people who, after his death, have taken up his mantle.

I knew Irv Rubin and other big guys in the JDL (who use the Kach symbol, incidentally), and they're not exactly what I'd consider "good publicity."

Relocation isn't exactly great publicity either, even if it's becoming increasingly obvious as the best solution.
