One question:

Where do you believe your rights - life, liberty, the P.O.H. to name a few - come from? Are these just "ideologies" and "concepts" that many have died to secure and protect? Are they something that man has dreamed of through the ages? If it's simply "nature's law", why don't we just collectively lie down and surrender to whoever wishes to oppress us? After all, since we're equal to the rest of nature, we can be dominated like the rest of the animal kingdom.

This isn't intended as a flame. I always associated atheism as going hand-in-hand with godless, oppresive societies - the liberal utopia. I just don't understand how one can be "conservative" and be an atheist.

The rights we have are actually just an agreement we have with one
another.  None of them need be god-given and, in fact, are not.
I own myself.  You own yourself.  No one owns anyone else.
Need one go further?

"I just don't understand how one can be "conservative" and be an atheist"

...For almost all my adult life I was a member of a labor union and heard from some but not all of my fellow union members, "How can you be a union member and be a Republican.
...At free Republic if I say anything at all positive about labor unions I am certain to be slammed by somebody and I HAVE been asked "How can you call yourself a conservative and say anything good about labor unions"
...I am a Christian and if someone says they are an atheist and conservative, who the hell do I think I am to question their sincerity?

I think living morally is inherently logical. No need for religion to point out living a moral life leeds to a fulfilling life.
