I'm assuming you don't know that the only reason she's in the state she's in is because her loving husband has refused to allow any form of rehabilitative effort ever since he got his lawsuit settlement. You actually believe all Terri needs is rehab?

It was never even tried, so we don't know what kind of progress she could have made in all these years.
Face it, the "husband" is just finishing what he started all those long years ago. Nothing else mattered to Michael Schiavo but to shut her up and kill her.
Perhaps the most disgusting thing he did was withhold antibiotics from her several times when she had a urinary tract infection. Anyone who has ever had those knows how completely agonizingly painful they are. Nothing but an inhuman monster would deny a woman antibiotics for cystitis, much less ask her nurse at the time "is she dead yet?"

You actually believe all Terri needs is rehab? Perhaps not to live as full a life as you or I, but to be able to do things like feed herself quite possibly. Even if there were only a 5% chance of her improving, don't you think they should be required to at least try, especially given that $750K WAS AWARDED TO MR. SCHIAVO FOR THAT EXPRESS PURPOSE?

(Why is it that the more "gun safety" laws are passed, the less safe my guns seem?)

I know that Terri may need more than rehab, and may never again be a "productive" human being, according to cold utilitatarianism.
The fact remains that even the most elementary rehab hasn't been tried, that the parents are unconditionally willing to take custody of Terri, and that her adulterous vulture husband won't allow it. So IF she can't make it back, it's most likely his fault.
Y'know, sometimes the little details reveal the most. HE HASN'T LET ANYONE BRUSH HER TEETH FOR 10 YEARS, FOR GOD'S SAKE! This isn't guardianship, this is torture.
If I thought that a few years of rehab COULD get Terri to the point of saying/writing/communicating "I love you" just once, I as a parent would move mountains to do it.
Oh, and we haven't even gotten into the issue that if Terri ever got coherent again, she could testify to pattern of spousal abuse good old Mikey committed in the years leading up to her collapse. So is Mikey pulling the plug because "Terri said she wanted that," or is he afraid of doing time? I'd sure as hell like to know, and the way to find out is to try to get Terri back to coherence.

You actually believe all Terri needs is rehab? Twelve prominent doctors think Terri is not in a persistent vegetative state and could benefit greatly from therapy.
Why don't you think so? Are you a prominent doctor who has seen Terri Schiavo?

I'd like to inform you that there is at least one good doctor (and I suspect a few more than that) who honestly believe that Terri's condition can improve were she to be given appropriate therapy. There is also a doctor in Edison, NJ, who routinely "coaxes patients into consciousness by working his fingers deep into their muscles." His name is Joseph T. Giacino, and he and 10 others have published new evidence that shows there is something going on in these patients brains. People who have been injured just like Terri! The technology gets better every day, and I for one think it would be nice to be able to use some of it on Terri. She could have a PET scan which I would doubt that she's had any time recently. I'd be surprised if she's ever had one at all! And an MRI with this good doctor and his colleagues could provide measurable proof that Terri reacts to her environment, and therefore, isn't PVS. If Terri got appropriate treatment, yes, I believe that she could improve greatly! But we'll never know if we don't give her that opportunity, now will we?!
