It is because the war is spiritual in nature: the angelic, the righteous, the godly, against all that is demonic.

And you can take that to the bank.

Go read Ephesians 6: it plainly states that the war is against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Or more simply, the secular world's reason for existance is to revoke the Gospel of Jesus Christ; there is no other issue.
