Why is this case only being talked about on the few conservative threads? Do you really want an answer, or is that just a rhetorical question?
Right now, the liberal and middle parts of the spectrum see a woman who has been in a vegatative state for more than a dozen years. They imagine the difficulty this puts on her loved ones, and wish to see the suffering of all concerned ended. When I saw pictures of Ms. Schiavo, I told my wife, right in front of her mother and her daughter, "If I ever get half that brain dead, pull my plug." I guess I need to find a way to put that in writing. Of course, at the age of 47, I feel that need more acutely than I did when I was in my twenties.
Some people on these Schiavo threads have suggested ulterior motives for the husband wishing to end his wife's vegetative state. Those suspicions have not translated into hard evidence that might well have been picked up by the news media. Everybody can understand why Scott Peterson might have wanted to off his wife, but its harder to believe that a super-selfish person would set themselves up for thirteen years of hospital hell just for a few bucks, or an affair.
Disagree with me if you want, but that's my answer to your question.

"but its harder to believe that a super-selfish person would set themselves up for thirteen years of hospital hell just for a few bucks, or an affair." The husband hasn't been loving her for 13 years and has exhausted all hope. He's been waiting/hoping for her to die for 13 years, which is deplorable. He's stonewalled any sort of attempt at rehabilitation and has instead tried everything (and is now suceeding) to have her die. Obviously he didn't mean it when he said, "in sickness and in health"

one minute Jeb is beloved and the next minute you guys are putting him down. Jeb and Columba are very God-fearing people. We should be praying for them---and not using this public arena to bad mouth them. He has to stay within the law. Governor or no Governor. Can't you guys see the toll this past year has taken on him? I can't be the only one to see how much he has aged since he was first elected. He has my support and my prayers. By the way, he is the reason I changed political parties. I didn't even vote for him and he won me over. I have more support for him NOW than some of you who have claimed support for years. Anyway, this isn't just politics. He is a husband and father first. Can you image if he was in the same shoes as Terri's parents? Come on guys---get off your high horses. Jeb is a man of Christian beliefs---but, he can't just go and ignore laws that were in place long before he took office. We should be praying for everyone involved here---not putting Jeb down. This is a terrible case---one that Jeb didn't cause---just got caught in the cross fire.
