The Hispanic vote is here, and growing. Election after election (the California recall being only the latest) has proven that Republicans can make a powerful appeal to Hispanic voters. We have NO HOPE of being a majority party in the 21st century if we don't continue to build on this progress. Plenty of "ethnically Democrat" groups (Italians, for example) were won over to voting Republican in very good numbers as they progressed in the middle class.

This doesn't mean that we can't have a sensible immigration policy -- Hispanic voters don't oppose that. It does mean that our policies shouldn't be driven by racial rhetoric, and our policies and rhetoric should have some manner of compassion for people who cross deserts on foot for the privilege of working our hardest and lowest-paid jobs.

I didn't register with the Republican Party to vote for any Democrat-lite, open-borders appeasement to Illegal Aliens, which your PC "compassion" enables you to post, along with your fear-mongering smears of those of us who'd like to see our immigration laws enforced.

Tell you what: Charter some buses and California will gladly send you all of the Illegals your compassionate heart could desire, until two thirds of the children born in your county hospitals have an Illegal mother, until half the children in your schools have an Illegal parent, until your total population swells by more than 10%, and your prison population by 25%.
Then legalize them and call it "sensible."

Excuse me......I believe that was the dem. 'Doofus Davis' who made not one, but THREE *powerful appeals* to the 'hispanic' CA voters (tuition, foreign LEGAL ID cards, & CA driver's licenses).

Now, VOTED, out of his job, Davis has already vetoed TWO of these bills he signed in. (attempting to save the remaining dems. in CA ??)
