Are you saying that if an anti-Semetic movie could make money, the studio should go right ahead and produce it? In my book, social conscience should play some role in business along with the profit motive. It did for Walt Disney. It's not at all clear that it does, at least to the same degree, for some of the people who today run the company that he built. And for me, that is very sad.

Once could also say, "Males run HollyWeird." Or, "Those between 5'5" and 7" in height run HollyWeird." WHen someone puts two characteristics into a sentence like this, a connection is implied. What is it?

There is none: when acting as executives, these people do not act as Jews, just like Jack Walsh was not acting as a Christian when running GE. Their Jewish origin has as much impact on their decisons as in the case of Jewish doctor.

In fact, how many of them are even Jewish --- as opposed to being from a Jewish family. When do you think was the last time that Barbara Streisand or Eisner went to the sinagogue? I have no idea why you beleave in a purely false, anti-Semitic slur.

Even when these liberal Hollywood Jews DO go to synagogue, it is purely a fashion show and nothing with any meaning. I've been to their synagogues. Believe me, other than the rabbis, I am not sure any real Judaism or prayer is going on there. You will never see more expensive clothes and bags in one room other than the Oscars, or see a foyer or balcony more filled with important people on their cell phones DURING the service, because G-d has to wait when MY CLIENT calls. These people are like sheep, especially when it comes to politics ("We vote Democrat so we won't get ridiculed at parties") and call themselves Jewish without paying any attention to the true tenets of the religion.

For instance, in my Torah study with my son last night, we learned that to be honest and fair in business is equal to keeping all of the commandments, in G-d's eyes. This is a very important point. How many of these Jews treat their customer's money as well as they would their own?

The devil is in the details here: what IS the social conscience? It is precisely the current sensibilities of the general public that find a movie boring if it does not show enough blood being spilled. The fall of Sep 11 was supposed to be a turning point for TV: during the preceding summer, numerous focus groups revealed that the public is angry at the need "to switch to cable to see more explicit sex" and was urging the networks to "give more of that stuff." That was to be implemented during the fall, but Sep 11 postponed it. It is a sad comment but this IS the social conscience of today. If you want further proof, please count the number of people who would leave the movie theatre after finding the "action" movies unacceptable due to their violence and glorification of loveless sex.

It did for Walt Disney.

Walt Disney did not do anything other than what America of his day wanted. He was no hero. He was an innovator, but he did not swim against the stream. And that is what you are asking the current executives to do: go against the current preferences of the public.

If these executives do what you ask, they will (i) last for only a couple of movies, and (ii) commit a fraud: they are hired by the investors to make money and not to save the souls. It is our churches and synagogues that must be helping us do that, and we attend both at an ever-decreasing rate.

Thanks, Yaelle. I haven't been to Hollywood synagogues, but I easily believe you. Even far away from Hollywood, the social action has replaced G-d's word in most Reform Temples.

This is a chicken and an egg argument: what came first, public demands more violence and sex in the movies or moviemakers promote desire for more of the same.

Michael Medved has a favorite point (he even wrote a book about it) that Box Office supports PG13, PG and G movies much better than R movies. He demonstrated statistics on that. Nevertheless the moviemakers love to make R movies and push an envelope wherever possible. He says that they are actually going against their pocketbook by doing this.

The genius of the old animated films does not negate the genius of the new animated films.

I have to disagree in a sense dennis. Jewish producers are no different than other producers. They make films to make money. Period.

I am no fan of Weinstein's polictics, but just as he made "Kill Bill", he also made "Shakespeare In Love", a beautiful film.

Dino DeLaurentis has made as many exploitive films as Harvey Weinstein has. It's not a Jewish thing, it's a Hollywood thing.

I well aware of US corporations and their executives who sell out American workers (via mass immigration and traitorous trade deals) and live in the gated communities well away from the messes they create.

Ultra capitalism that puts international markets/trade far above national welfare are terrible for America and will create millions of jobless or underpaid who will become new Democrat voters. That Radio Ad described one of the characters as an
