I'm starting to think every new article written by VDH is the best.
That's how i felt while reading An Autumn of War. I still chuckle when I remember some of the stuff in the (not the actual titles) "What if the Doolittle Raid was covered like the War on Terror" and "My responses to the idiotic questions I get when I'm speaking at colleges and on talk radio." essays. The essay from that book on Sherman's march and "bottled piety" and the one that relates the fighting in Afghanistan (and, incidentally, Truman's A-Bomb decision) to the horrific casualties on Iwo Jima are just outstanding.
