Maybe I don't know enough, sorry. I made that reasonable assumption because of the numerous "experts" who said she was. Did they not do a EEG on her?

As for my loved ones...that's exactly why I have a "do not recusitate" document...to alleviate them from the continueing sorrow and yes, COSTS, to keep my vegetative cells functioning. I would prefer them to grieve shortly than perpetually, and get on their lives.

BTW, what organ does the soul reside in?

The heart if you are Eastern Orthodox.

The problem with the "numerous experts" is that several doctors and therapists have stated exactly the opposite of what the "loving, concerned" husband's experts have stated. If you have not visited www.terrisfight.org, I would humbly suggest that you do so.

I don't really know about the EEG's, but I do know that bone scans done approximately 3 years after her "incident" showed numerous bone fractures, and that one or more doctors have stated that she had a "hyperextended neck," which they had only seen in attempted strangulations. I will not argue how many doctors said this, because I don't know. One or more. There are so many things to try to keep straight in this matter, and my memory is not perfect, by a long shot.

And, until this case came up, I would have been in perfect agreement with you on a "do not recusitate" order. I fully intended to sign one myself. However, I now have serious second thoughts. If the document could be construed as not taking extraordinary measures, that, of course, would be what I, and most other reasonable people, would want. We would not want to be kept alive by machines breathing for us, etc. But if "extraordinary measures" means being fed and hydrated, that is a different matter all together.

No, I would definitely NOT want my family to be burdened with the costs and sorrow of keeping me functioning by artificial means. My point is, a feeding tube is NOT the same as a respirator and other means. Each and every one of us needs food and water to survive. I don't think anyone can argue that this is not true. However, there are also cases where I do think artificial means ARE called for, in the case of younger people, especially. What you may see as a wasted life, may not be so to that person's loved ones.

This very morning, I was on a thread where a couple of people were saying that anyone on ANY life support had a life not worth living. On that very same thread was a Freeper who has a grown son who requires much more life support than Terri, but he also has a very full life, thanks to his mother. She loves him, he is HER life, and he has as much right to live as any one of us. We will all, at some time or other, unless we die young, need help or support of some kind. Love makes a difference, but this is lost on people such as Michael Schiavo.

And I am not about to get into an argument with you as to WHICH organ the soul resides in. Try someone else. I am not taking the bait.

Best wishes to you.

P.S. to the Spelling Police: I can spell as well as any of you, but I am upset, angry, and heartbroken. Don't get on my case.

EEG is notoriously inaccurate, though legal decisions are based on their results
Terri has had no tests in years - a proper guardian would have continued giving her tests
More physicians have stated that it is possible thru rehab that she can improve than docs have said she can't
