The LCSes were good, but can you imagine the ratings a Cubs-Sox series would've drawn? This is the worst possible outcome for the networks, even with two outstanding division series. With the "cursed" teams gone, people are just going to see it as "ho hum, Steinbrenner buys another one," and quit caring--even though it's actually shaping up to be a pretty darn good matchup. The Yankees aren't the invincible Yanks of old, and the Marlins are a hell of a lot better than people think.

Prediction--this World Series will have the worst or second-worst TV ratings in the past 20 years. It won't deserve those ratings, but it'll get 'em.

So at least we can all agree on being happy about the networks being disappointed. Those same networks that exude liberal bias day in and day out. Those same networks that called the 2000 Election for Gore prematurely. No, I can't feel sorry for the networks. The fans got more dramatic baseball this postseason ALREADY, even before the World Series, than in just about any other televised postseason. So the fans win, the networks lose. That's a huge win for baseball on both counts!

Thankfully the Yanks won. No more late nights watching baseball.
