It was all down to Pedro pitching to Matsui. Then Matsui wisely seeing that Posada's pop would drop and racing home with the tying run.
I said this before. Matsui is a player I point to my daughter as how baseball should be played.
Great series, both teams left it on the field. Had Wakefield gotten out of that inning, they would have had the game won. Rivera was done.
Best pennant series ever. Brilliantly played and no curses. Two teams fighting until the end.
As for blaming the managers: Torre made a number of questionable moves, too.
