The best was Walter Johnson? In the 1917 AL All Star game Ruth pitched against Johnson in Fenway. The All Star outfield was perhaps the greatest ever assembled, Cobb, Speaker and Shoeless Joe. Ruth and the Sox won the game 1-0.
