In reality, you couldn't be more wrong. The net economic effect of illegal immigration labor is to lower the prices of groceries and retail consumer services. It lowers the prices of daily consumables, day-to-day goods. Logically, this has a much more positive effect for "the regular people" since it is the "regular people" who pay a much larger percentage of their income for those things. Thus, a poor person, or working class person, or lower-middle class person receives a much more significant benefit from illegal immigrant labor than do the wealthy people, in terms of % of income.

I don't know who you think you're kidding, but it isn't me, and the emotional plays for sympathy don't fool most people either. No one disputes that the cheap labor heavily benefits the business owners, but the benefits to the regular folks don't even come close to offsetting the negatives. If illegal immigration were such an economic benefit, California would be swimming in money. Instead, the state is virtually bankrupt, and everyone knows why. The illegal immigrants pay little or no taxes and are a tremendous burden in terms of services, and the deterioriation in the quality of life drives out the high taxpaying base to other locations. This is one of the biggest reason why Gray Davis just got his worthless ass kicked out of office. Everyone in California knows it's true, so go sell your Business Roundtable crap to someone else.

"""""""""""I don't know who you think you're kidding, but it isn't me, and the emotional plays for sympathy don't fool most people either.""""""""""

Emotional plays for sympathy? Other than talking about basic human dignity and respect for life, I have no idea what you might be referring to. The fact that I think it's in poor taste to make light of dead people is hardly an emotional play for sympathy.

""""""""" No one disputes that the cheap labor heavily benefits the business owners, but the benefits to the regular folks don't even come close to offsetting the negatives.""""""""""

Do you have any actual facts to back this up? The benefit to "regular folks" is high. Their food and services are much cheaper than they would be if there was no cheap labor.

Offsetting the negatives? Your thought is premised on a major flaw - the "regular folks" are not the ones who pay the most taxes. Sorry, but poor and working class people in California do not pay a lot of tax.

""""""" If illegal immigration were such an economic benefit, California would be swimming in money.""""""

California is swimming in money. As a single state, the economy here is the 5th largest economic power in the world.

"""""""" Instead, the state is virtually bankrupt, and everyone knows why. """"""""""""

Um you must be privy to some economic data that noone else has. Are you actually trying to claim that California's defecit and debt is due to illegal immigration? Please cite even ONE single credible source to back up that opinion. I don't believe that for a minute.

"""""""""" The illegal immigrants pay little or no taxes"""""""""

Again, more misinformation. Illegal aliens pay sales tax, gasoline tax, and higher prices that reflect built-in taxes for goods and services, vehicle tax, and most other taxes just like the rest of Californians. Under California Labor Law, it is IRRELEVANT if a worked is legal or not, that is why illegal aliens are entitled to worker's compensation benefits when they are injured. There are MANY illegal aliens working in California who also have taxes deducted from their pay (including deductions for some benefits to which they are not even entitled to collect)

Since illegal aliens tend to be on the lower end of income earners, the regressive nature of the tax system for those types of taxes means that illegal aliens pay as high a rate of % of income in taxes as any other poor/working-class person in California.

"""""""""""""""
and are a tremendous burden in terms of services, and the deterioriation in the quality of life drives out the high taxpaying base to other locations.
"""""""""""""""

There is no doubt that illegal alien residents of California account for a significant share of education, law enforcement, and health care costs in California. But, they present an economic benefit to the state, and they do (despite your belief) pay some taxes as well.

In case you missed this part of history, President Ronald Reagan was responsible for AMNESTY for many illegal aliens, and President Bush is also in favor of a new round of amnesty legislation.

"""""""""""""" This is one of the biggest reason why Gray Davis just got his worthless ass kicked out of office."""""""""""

Gray Davis was booted for many reasons, financial/managerial incompetence being a major one. Of that, there is no argument. But to claim that illegal immigration is the reason for California's financial problems is based on misinformation and incorrect assumptions.

"""""""""Everyone in California knows it's true, so go sell your Business Roundtable crap to someone else.""""""""

Well, with your style of hostilitym, name-calling, refusal to cite sources of misinformation, and your clear lack of understanding of how taxes and government works in the State of California, I doubt I will respond to more of your posts.

Best wishes. And should you choose to do some research and learn some facts, I welcome further opinions from you.
