205 migrants die hard, lonely deaths (Barf Alert)

It is a lonely place to die, out in the soft sandy washes. The desert floor, with its volcanic rock, can reach 160 degrees. Most people go down slowly.

Blood starts to seep into the lungs. Exposed skin burns and the sweat glands shut down. Little hemorrhages, tiny leaks, start in the heart.

Of course that's our interest, just as it's in their interest to risk their lives.

But people have this belief that somehow the illegal immigrants are coming over just to cause us problems. They are not. These aren't people wanting to bring down the U.S., these are people wanting a better life and risking everything for that. How do we stop it? Well, I have a few ideas that might work, but most anti-immigration people don't want to here of anything other than "keep those people out".

For those who do not deserve to be hit with such a broad brush, I apologize, but the racism built into the anti-immigrant movement is pretty hard to ignore after a while.

ANd Yes, businessmen are Americans too, in addition to the politicians. And they allow this. and want it.

And why are the American people so impotent when it comes to this issue? Why is the US political system so unresponsive.

Anger at these people is misguided. Anger should be focused on the politicians and the businessmen who allow this human trafficking to occur.

Beleive me, I think the Reagan/Kennedy amnesty should not have happened. Tolerating illegal immigration cheapens the ethos of the country, mocks legal immigrants. But its been tolerated and even welcomed.

So we get incidents like this.

And the sick and vile cheerleading dancing on the graves of these poor souls.

My parents wanted a better life for themselves and for their children, too. That's why we immigrated LEGALLY. Don't you relaize that just by enterign this country illegally, they ARE causing us problems. If they are willing to break the law just to get in, do you think that they will have any problems breaking other laws?

This past year, the bodies of 205 undocumented immigrants were found in Arizona.

Murdered by the policies of a nation that does nothing for them except encourage them to be elsewhere; Mexico.

I'm not cheerleading or dancing.

I'm also not going to lay flowers on their graves or encourage them to try to walk through the desert to get here.

Those that do try, if they get caught, no matter when or where, they should be deported.

You may be depending on them to save social security but I'm not going to be depending on social security to tide me through my golden years when they get here.

Sooner or later, and later may be too late, the government will have to start listening to the citizens. Otherwise the citizens will take the government down a few pegs.

Those with reasoned opposition to illegal immigration, many of whom are represented here today, do not share the belief expressed in the fist sentence of yours quoted above.

On the other hand, your second sentence is patently false. While they may not intentionally desire to cause problems, they indeed do cause problems; not the least of which is the $300 Billion sent to Mexico (Mexico's claim) last year, making expatriate investment Mexico's 2nd largest source of income. Additionally, crime among young hispanics is approaching traditional black-on-black numbers and the financial burden placed on hospitals in border states/counties is horrendous.

I don't think you understand what I am saying. I'm not saying they should enter illegally, in fact there are many things we should do to prevent it. What I am saying is that there is a desire behind their risk-taking that we should be constantly aware of as their motivation for risking death.

We must find a way to both reduce that desire and prevent the ease of access to our nation. Doing only one or the other will not be effective.

I only have to see what immigration did to the Native American way of life to see that immigration stinks.

I didn't say they "don't cause", I said they "don't want to cause". Big difference. Many believe that these illegals "want" to cause us problems. They don't. The problems exist, but not because of the illegals intent.

Not me but the USG. Why else are we letting them come in and now, with amnesties and defacto citizenship, ie drivers licenses? Legality means they get taxes withheld and make FICA payments. No more under the table payments.

I can't think of any other reason for this whole situation.

We need to keep them out. We could use the money that we give to Mexico annually to build the wall. That might get the point across.

Funny, I immigrated to this country, and I didn't risk my life. These people choose to enter illegally, and so I could care less their motivation. They are criminals and, IMO, should be shot the second their feet touch our soil.

Boycott Mexican goods.

If the U.S. Government wanted this to stop, they would apply economic pressure to Mexico to force Mexico to control its own people.

I'd rather drive a more economical car and do without Mexican oil imports, then let this invasion continue.

And if we stop buying Mexican oil and stop selling them supplies--what will that do to their economy?

Maybe the Mexican government should start thinking about raising the standard of living among its citizens instead of thinking about how to enrich themselves to the detriment of its own citizens.

Maybe its time for the United States to enlighten Mexican leadership that Mexico needs to tend to the welfare of its people--that we will no longer do it for them!

May I ask where you immigrated from? Was it a nation where you could not find a job and corruption drained every penny you could scrounge up?

Just curious, because I know dozens of immigrants from all over the world, and none have the hatred for those wanting to be in the U.S. that you do.
