205 migrants die hard, lonely deaths (Barf Alert)

It is a lonely place to die, out in the soft sandy washes. The desert floor, with its volcanic rock, can reach 160 degrees. Most people go down slowly.

Blood starts to seep into the lungs. Exposed skin burns and the sweat glands shut down. Little hemorrhages, tiny leaks, start in the heart.

I don't even distinguish much between legal and illegal anymore.

And so you play right into the hands of the Democratic Party. Which is what they have done.

Legals who want immigration slowed down, both legal and illegal are then accused of wanting to close the door after them.

And people with your viewpoint have already ensured the blurring of the lines.

So, illegal immigration continues, and anyone addressing the issue is considered a racist for bringing it up.

Thanks a lot. You just ensured that paralysis reigns and the issue is never resolved.

You're welcome. No, those are illegal immigration stats.

35% of the Mexican immigrants live on welfare programs.

Source?

From this post:

MCKEE: Thank you. That figure that the $100 million surplus is preposterous. Thirty-six to 42 percent of the illegal aliens in this country are on welfare. They are not contributing a centavo. And the ones that are getting a job are doing so at the expense of the 18 million Americans who cannot find a job.

For those who do not deserve to be hit with such a broad brush, I apologize, but the racism built into the anti-immigrant movement is pretty hard to ignore after a while.

That's a pile of crap. What you encourage you get more of. That's why we're against any amnesty or benefits for people who broke the law to get in. They have no rule of law where they came from, so they undermine our laws when they are here.

"They should be thankful we don't have the military on the border shooting those trying to cross illegally!"

Wouldn't that be more humaine?

This should read " 205 ILLEGAL CRIMINALS TRYING TO CROSS ILLEGALLY INTO THE UNITED STATES DIE A STUPID DEATH AND SHOULD BLAME THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT FOR THEIR SITUATION."

"Has in occurred to you that the only thing that distinguishes you from those who dies in the desert is luck?"

...or maybe common sense?

Tell, you what, let's try this theory. Everyone who has had 2 speeding tickets in the last 20 years, report to your local jail for 6 months. That will see if speeding tickets need to be enforced more vigarously.

Asinine suggestion.

How about this instead.

We have a Green Card / Red Card system.

The Green Cards work similar to the way they do now with residency and work requirements, and with whatever social services the State of residency provides for them.

The Red Cards are 3 month work permits that require an assurance from an employer. Red Cards are same day issue, but are subject to a fingerprint match. (That's right, fingerprint every foreign entrant!) Red Cards can be denied by accumulating 10 points in the Immigration Services database. These points can be reviewed once every year upon appeal. Typical actions that would cause points to be "awarded":

-Violent felony 10pts
-Possession or distribution of false immigration documents 10pts
-Entering the United States at a point other than an Official Checkpoint 10pts
-Failure to renew your Red Card 5pts
-Criminal Misdemeanor 1 to 5pts

If this were to go into effect, then you could aggressively start patrolling the border without fear of harming immigrants who just wish to work. Since everyone could enter and work (and pay taxes) as long as they hadn't broken the rules in the past, only those with something to hide about their nature would be trying to slip across unnoticed.

I realize that this is just a brief sketch of an idea that I have been working on, but I believe you can see that it would provide a way for Mexicans in particular to improve their lives while still providing the U.S. with a secure border and keeping us from losing tax revenue from under the table payments. Will it magically solve all the problems? No, I have no illusions that it would. But I do think it would be a big step in the right direction.

Maybe even save a few people from dying in the desert while reaching for the American Dream.

I have read it's that high --- and from this part of the country you would easily think it's that high or higher yet. Virtually no illegals take out health insurance policies for themselves or children, they expect free medical care, some might work for food instead of taking food stamps though. In some of the grocery stores around here, they actually look at you kind of weird if you're paying with something other than a food stamp card. I would like to see an announcement that welfare programs for non-citizens are ended ---- we'd see a lot of screaming that would put to rest they only come to work.

Some migrants claw at the ground with their fingernails, trying to hollow out a cooler spot to die. Others pull themselves through the sand on their bellies, like they're swimmers or snakes. The madness sometimes prompts people to slit their own throats or to hang themselves from trees with their belts.

This past year, the bodies of 205 undocumented immigrants were found in Arizona. Official notations of their deaths are sketchy, contained in hundreds of pages of government reports.

We are supposed to believe that they are all dying of exposure in the desert but the facts are "sketchy". I notice this author has said nothing about the corpses found in the desert that were shot execution style. Gee maybe some of these people didnt go mad and cut their throats and drag themselves around on their bellies and hang themselves. Maybe they were murdered? Maybe allowing a crime wave on the border results drug smuggling, robbery, turf wars and murder?

That's right, fingerprint every foreign entrant

Every person who immigrates legally is, FYI.

Repeat : WE, AMericans WANT These people here. That's why we hire them.

Those that hire them are in the minority. Most Americans dont want them here. Though it would help if they boycotted businesses that make use of illegals.

Anyhow I did give my source for the 35% ---- but figures are misleading. One thing we see a lot of around here is "sharing" of a welfare check. An illegal unwed mother may not get a welfare check of her own --- but her citizen children get one ---- and she can easily live off what they qualify for. The children may get food stamps, WIC, free lunch and breakfasts at Head Start ----and nothing stops her and anyone else eating what the food stamps bought. She and any number of people can live in the HUD housing provided for the legal chilren on welfare.

Do you risk the chance of dying coming in legally? No.

I disagree. Coming from the UK, you probably were pretty safe waiting, but there are a lot of families that see their children die waiting for their approval to come. My friend Miguel and Rosa from El Salvador had 2 daughters die of Malaria in 84 while waiting for their legal chance. And they were lucky that the Civil War didn't take their lives. So while many people around the world can wait politely in line, disease, famine and war stalk many others yearning to be free.

Oh well...This person certainly seems like an unbiased source....You should maybe look at the studies cited by RoughDoberman for a better study.

Roughdoberman's statistics are fine. I sourced someone I had read earlier today. You can dismiss her all you want, but do you have any source refuting her statistics? I thought not. I guess you are just going on your “gut feeling.” That’s real reliable.

Why don't you check out some of my past posts. I have cited CIS figures many times & have conducted much research on their website. Maybe you should also try looking there.

However, some FReepers have even disregard and dismiss CIS's well researched, documented & footnoted studies that I have referenced here, even when they themselves had zero statistics to refute CIS's numbers. It seems some people are oblivious to facts. As Larry Elder says "a fact to a Liberal is like Kryptnoite to Superman."
