My mother left us a few years ago.

My condolences. Mine died a couple of years ago, screaming on a hospital gurney from the pain of a dissected aortic aneurysm, as I watched helpless to do anything. No Living Will, no instructions of any kind. "Fortunately" for her, she died in surgery and didn't end up chained to a hospital bed or being fed through a tube.

She had a living will, and while it didn't make the process pleasant, she was able to die in comfort and dignity.

You (and your mother) were exceedingly fortunate, sir or madam.

Fortunately for her she was not subjected to 1-2 weeks of slow torture through deliberate, terminal dehydration.

After that, everything else is a piece of cake.

Yes. She was a very smart lady.

I'm sorry about your mom and hope that you have something in place. I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't yet.
