I am in Florida and have been following this case with particular interest because, I was in her position at one time 11 years ago.
I had a subdural hematoma evacuated from my brain which precipitated a couple of strokes following my surgery. I was in a coma for a week or so and when I came out of my coma (on life support, which could have been disconnected at anyone's discretion) I was left paralyzed on my left side and my tongue or ( ability) to vocalize. I could hear and see and understand everything anyone said to me but my communication as hard as I tried was nothing but garble, and, noone could understand a word I was trying to say.
I've watched the videos of this woman and "I" know she understands. Fortunately for me, within a week or so, my ability to communicate returned to me.
I think Michael Schiavo would not allow rehabilitation to his wife because she "might regain communication skills" take that as you will.
If this man's intentions were truly Terri's interest, he would just turn her care over to her mother and father. He's afraid of something.
I called our local radio station this a.m. furious over some of the comments made on this case and presented the side of "one who has been there" and I can only hope people understand now.
I've written Jeb Bush, my congressman, the judge (who sentenced her to death) and the white house, and I don't know what else to do, although, it appears, some of our letters to Jeb have made quite an impact as he's found out that "starving this woman" is "illegal" in Fla.
I find it absolutely amazing that in his last two feeble tries at intervening on her behalf were not researched deeply enough to have found this out himself.
Now, "if he acts"!!! Time is short and people don't know the agony of dying of starvation and dehydration... look it up sometime, it will shock your socks off..

So pals, I know one thing, if you caged your dog and deprived it of food and water you would go to jail, also, you might like to know that dehydration and starvation involves the drying up of the mucous membranes, the throat, tongue and stomach, organs etc., eventually start cracking and bleeding and I'm sure you all think this might be a fun game to go through...
