WASHINGTON - Sen. Arlen Specter, bracing for a bruising Republican primary next spring, is approaching the $10 million mark in fund-raising for his reelection effort, according to campaign documents released yesterday.
The tally comes as Specter spent hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last three months on radio and TV advertisements that largely target his GOP challenger, Rep. Pat Toomey.
Specter, who is seeking a fifth term as U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, has $9.3 million on hand, according to Federal Election Commission documents released by his campaign. Overall, Specter raised $1.35 million between July 1 and Sept. 30, the most recent FEC reporting period, and spent $746,649.
Toomey's campaign boasted its "most successful fund-raising quarter yet," spokesman Joe Sterns said, pulling in $779,685 during the three-month period. Toomey spent $489,738 and has $1.8 million on hand, documents show.

Note to Illinois:
We can't afford to loose our Senate seat that the out-going Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (R-IL) will leave open. God knows we need a counter to ULTRA LIB. Dick (eddie haskel) Durbin.

Call Washington Bureau
"Toomey insists he can defeat Specter in the primary without coming close to matching him financially by targeting conservative voters. But Specter has shown he won't let Toomey's moves go without challenge. When Toomey bought ads on conservative and religious radio stations across the state in September, Specter promptly doubled it."

Sphincter is a worthless RINO coward.
He can take his Scottish law and shove it up His ass.
Another fine example of what we as Americans have lowered our standards to as far as a choosing our "Leaders" is concerned.

In the past, I voted for Specter even though I didn't like him. Never again.
