I like Bernie just fine, but I am not sure I agree with his thesis, which seems to be essentially that the side that plays nicest must be right. I'm the right-wing version of Alterman, I suppose. I detest liberals. I wish horrible things on them regularly and without remorse. I wish they'd go away. I don't have them over for dinner either. I'll hold a civil conversation with them, but only because I'm hoping to convert them. The unconvertable ones I wish would go play in front of an IDF bulldozer.

But I don't consider this making me "as bad as them." Because how you fight is not what makes you better. What you fight for is. I'm sure they feel the same way, but that doesn't mean that this is, then, a deadlock. One has to look and see whose policies, when implemented, have done what over the years. It's evident what Marxism has done. Therefore, my side is objectively right, and I don't have to be charming about it to be on the correct side.

But that's JMHO.

Good for you, Wizzy. Just recently, I had to tell my liberal sister (mother of a very in-your-face gay son and increasingly committed to every "gay rights" and every other leftwing issue that ever gets invented) to absolutely: stop lying, stop manipulating, stop bringing up creepy sex topics, and stop trashing Christians, men, and conservatives to me. She had been sneaking the above into our conversations for years, more and more as time went by.

My sister reacted with considerable huffiness and offense at being called on her behavior and hung up on me. I have not heard from her since, and, frankly, it's feeling pretty nice. I rather wish I had called her out a long time ago (though my eventual reaction was based on one especially egregious lie on her part which I simply could not allow to stand).

I have noticed that people who lie all the time and insult other people (overwhelmingly liberals in my experience) mostly get away with it and really ARE insulted and angry when challenged. My sister, who has lied and manipulated successfully since childhood, is but one example.

That's the truth. Copied to my archive of great quotes. The wisdom behind those few words is some of the best I've seenhere.

Good Grief!

I think we're related!
