Present company excluded, there is a lot of truth in what Goldberg says.

Too many of today's "liberals", in particular those in the media, are putting a mean-spirited face on the persuasion.

And many people who think they are liberal actually have more in common with conservatives than with those who claim to speak for them.

Why don't we call these so-called 'liberals' by their true name: 'Socialists'? 'Liberal' once described decent people who believed in Free Trade.

I agree with you that political discourse in general has become more mean-spirited and hostile in recent years, on both sides. I'm sorry to see things deteriorate like this. It reflects the general decline in civility taking place in society at large.
