Steve had? I feel bad for him. It looked foul. He should have paid better attention but it turned out to be the turning point of the whole game. :-(

It looked foul.Fair or foul had NOTHING to do with the issue. Fan inteference concerns whether the fan reached onto the playing field (fair or foul) and intefered with the player making the catch. It appears that he did intefere, but umpires rarely call inteference by a home team fan.

My heart goes out to him. If he had "done" it to a team with a winning tradition rather than one of perpetually losing, it likely would have been regarded as just another foul ball by the team on the field, as well as their fans.
If not for him, I'd love to see the Cubs lose 19-0 tonight. Then again, why not? He need only move a few hours to the SW, and live out his life in St. Louis (a real baseball town).
