"Just following orders" is not a legal excuse even in the military to stand by and watch an atrocity, like in Germany, take place. Rules must be broken and then righted to protect the sancity of human life, nomatter how we puzzle of the meaning of some existance.

"Just following orders" is not a legal excuse even in the military to stand by and watch an atrocity, like in Germany, take place. Bingo.
When I was in Berlin in 1996 I happened across the "Chamber of Horrors", an underground torture facility buried a stone's throw from a main berlin municipal building. It had just recently been discovered. There was a small group of young German military folk being led through by an officer and all looked very grim. Another officer I spoke to said they march new recruits through the place to illustrate the danger in blindly "following orders."

Do you think Bush is AFRAID to bend the FL rules to save this one life? I suspect that he would save other lives similarly situated under different circumstances. Just my cynical opinion, and I wish that I were wrong on that.
