It's dreadful. Today I kept thinking about how our soldiers rescued Jessica Lynch from within a war zone, against great odds, and yet poor Terri is held hostage in Florida, sliding ever closer to a horrid death. There must be a great deal of money at stake in Florida for this travesty to have continued for so many years. If ever we needed heroes, it's today.

Just how alive is she? My understanding is hardly at all...How many millions of the taxpayers' funds have been spent on her already?

So we should just put to death all who are in her situation? She wasn't even given a chance to see if she can overcome this.

IIRC, the expert witnesses testified that mouth-feeding Terry will lead to her either choking to death or developing a fatal infection in her respiratory tracts

I have suggested "killing" no one. Yet, I would venture to say that many, if not most, of those outraged by the husband's actions are the same as those who are equally outraged at any taxation for such things as saving the babies you mentioned.

Premature babies routinely died in the past and mothers did as well we can change that and do. Is it a good policy to save all of the infants? Maybe not. This is a question I can't answer but it is clear that there are unintended consequences from allowing those to live who would have died routinely. Not the least of those are the impacts of driving ever higher the costs of bloated governments. But then we have a Stephen Hawkins on occasion as a result of these actions.

Why are such massive interventions not resisting the Will of God? Just because it can be done doesn't seem to be sufficient justification.

I've read the US Constitution and there is NOTHING about a Federal judge murdering a woman to help a "divorce".

It was a State court judge who ordered the feeding tube removed; it was the woman's family that asked the federal courts to intervene (they declined to do so).

I have a problem with your article: it doesn't mention that some doctors have testified that Terri can improve with physical therapy.

I just posted the article as a different view, a view that receives little play on FR.

This case has been litigated in public courtrooms, both at the state and federal level.

AFIK, both sides presented their expert witnesses, and the judges made their decisions accordingly.

Why do you insist on untruth? TERRI IS NOT NOW NOR HAS EVER BEEN in a coma. If you are going to argue at least be truthful!! Go see her website, read the OPPOSING views of other doctors, look at the video and tell me she's in a coma! She is also not in a vegetative state. One court appointed investigator said as much and said her husband should be removed as guardian and instead Judge Greer removed HIM.

While this is not the prevailing opinion on this thread, if I was the one in the hospital bed, in a persistent vegetative state, with no chance of recovery, I would hope my family would have the strength to let me die, quickly and painlessly.

The last thing I would want is for my wife and children to be tied emotionally to a lifeless body in a hospital.

Why do people want to artificial prolong the "life" of this lady? She would be long dead without medical intervention.

Not true. Doctors have testified that Terri could very likely have re-learned to swallow -- IF her husband had allowed her therapy. (In fact, Terri can probably swallow now, doctors say, because people who cannot swallow, drool -- Terri doesn't.)

Terri is NOT being kept alive "artificially." She breathes completely on her own. The feeding tube is probably not necessary either, though Terri would need someone to help her eat. But the husband will not allow it!

Are you aware that Michael Schiavo has denied ALL rehabilitative therapy to Terri? That therapists who were capable of helping Terri have been FORBIDDEN to even try?

Are you aware that the husband has forbidden even Terri's own brother and sister from seeing her, for YEARS?

Are you aware that the husband has now forbidden even Terri's own parents to be with her in her last hours?!

If nothing is done, this woman will die in a manner that we would not do to any murderer, pedophile, or terrorist in our custody.

You got that right.

Just imagine the outrage if we tried to do that to the killers on Death Row or in Guantanamo!

It would be more humane to hook Terry up to a gurney and administer poison, something Liberals usually recoil from. My guess is, most of them find nothing wrong with pulling the tubes but also likely would also be happy wheeling in the gurney as well.

In fact, they would probably cheer the compassion of it all.

1. There is a lot of money involved.

2. It has been suggested by some experts that her injuries are consistent with a strangulation attempt. If he attempted to kill her, he surely wouldn't want her to remain alive and be rehabilitated to communicate how she was injured.

They had an hour long discussion about this on Coast to Coast. I had no idea people were "dehydrated." I am sickened, and what's it to the "husband" to just let her parent's have custody? I remember Michael Savage talking about "baby body parts" - I think there is a LOT we don't know about what the "medical establishment" is doing.

He will inherit what is left of the $1.2 million won through a malpractice suit (most of it was supposed to be earmarked for her care and rehabilitation, but he has not spent a dime of it for that purpose). There may be insurance money, but I don't know.
