This is interesting. My dad gave me verbal instruction prior to his death that he had not written (I didn't know he hadn't written it down, and there was no witness to our discussions). After his death, I was advised I would not be able to carry out his wishes since the law in that State was community property or something like it. Makes me wonder if I could have gotten his wishes fulfilled.

I don't think last minute conversations can trump community property laws in a state. It's not quite the same matter as having a feeding tube removed to starve and dehydrate the victim.
