Even when I was up there, we always tried to put out a high quality product for the troops. Good food seemed to help keep morale up.
Have you been thru a whole winter up there, with it's almost totally dark days, when the sun just starts to glow on the horizon at about 11 am & then it's pitch black again at 1pm? Really can mess your mind!

Yep! Winter of 98-99. You're right, it IS a head-fake. I noticed people getting very surly and depressed about that time.
